honestly the thought never occurred to me that people might have SUCH different dream honeymoon ideas!

Mine is in Bora Bora and includes a really nice resort/hotel, pretty beach, great food,a great spa, drinks with umbrellas and lots of relaxation (amongst other things WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE)
as for activities other than WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE lol spa stuff, restaurants ,maybe snorkeling and some sailing

The idea of backpacking or adventuring or camping honestly would NEVER occur to me or enthuse me honeymoon wise lol

I love all kinds of vacations (I mean I would still never go camping) but as for honeymoons..it's always been about lounging around on a beach lol

I would love to visit New Zealand. Sight see, relax, do some more sight seeing, do some more *cough* relaxing. ..good scenery, good food, good drinks. That would be so much fun.

DH wants to go to Japan and do the whole hotsprings/spa type deal. Which I would also be fine with, but it's not New Zealand. ;)

We never did have a honeymoon...we're hoping once we've had time to get finances in order and he's able to get leave after a deploymemt we'll be able to finally have our trip.

Greece!

History, food, whitewashed or colorful buildings, blue ocean, infinity pool.

Lounging around, checking out historical sites, sailing, fishing, swimming, exploring.

I dont' know why but a fancy place in Greece has always been it for me! Actually, I think it was my chosen engagement location but screw it, it can be the honeymoon place!

Yes please!!!

I would love to jam everything I need in a backpack and go fly somewhere new for a month with no set plans and just... Wonder.

That being said, when we get married I will be up to my eyeballs in debt, I will either be unemployed or newly hired, and we will having moving costs plus trying to afford rent on a house large enough for dogs plus board for the horse plus trying to buy a house... He also still has school debt, had to buy a new car, had a few emergencies and has debt from those and also has an expensive hobby.

If we just turn our phones off and spend time at home together uninterrupted plus hiking locally with the dogs I'll be happy.

If I married someone who wanted to CAMP for our honeymoon, I would have to divorce them immediately. Camping is the worst.

I'm not a huge traveler.. I love the idea of going places but I don't fly well (I go deaf for days) and I always feel like I need a vacation after my vacation to recover! I would love to do somewhere warm, adventurous and with beautiful scenery though :)

Camping for a honey moon sounds wonderful to me.

Infact... if I could go on my own honey moon with just my dogs I'd be delighted. Kids can stay home with David.

Island hopping in Hawaii.
And there would definitely be hiking involved.

But probably not camping... not for the honeymoon. Camping is great for, you know. CAMPING. But not a honeymoon. We'll have the rest of our lives to camp. A honeymoon should be something special IMO.

We're going to be going on a cross-country road trip and having a blast. Looking for local fauna, eating at awesome restaurants, hiking, seeing online friends, staying in hotels.

I love driving, which makes it more fun.

This is what I would like to do, that sounds so much fun! Road trips are the bomb. He'll probably want to go somewhere overseas, which I won't complain about :D I guess I don't really have a dream, traveling in general is just so much fun to me.

We had my dream honeymoon!

20 days road tripping in New Zealand. We camped (in a tent) for 7 nights and stayed in (really nice) hotels for 9 nights. Went on a 12 mile hike, had our favorite band play a private show for us, took a boat cruise, flew in a helicopter, lounged on the beach, checked out the local breweries, etc and still had plenty of time for "relaxing" ;)

Because we stayed every other night on average in a $12 campground we were able to do everything we wanted and stay well within our budget. Plus, we met some of the coolest people at the campgrounds and stayed in some reeeeally nice hotels.

We will never have 20 days off together again (we work together) so a "honeymoon" was the perfect excuse to do our "dream vacation"-- I can understand others unwillingness to go on a big camping trip, I guess, and I probably would not have camped if our time would have been shorter and certainly not tenting it the entire time.

We island hopped for our honeymoon!!

Now though anything with history and water. I love Europe and just wandering round little towns and eating at tiny little places where I can't read the menu!

Haha Tanya!

I might be willing to camp for a honeymoon if it was camping in the rain forest or in Africa or something. Or a part camping, part hotel honeymoon.

My ideal honeymoon...I really don't know. I'd much prefer a foreign city vacation to a beach one (even though I love the beach), but a beach honeymoon sounds nice. Maybe like the Dominican Republic or Argentina or somewhere in Mexico, the best of both worlds kinda thing!

Somewhere like Spain, Italy, or France would be nice as well.

Really I think the honeymoon is mostly about spending time together, so while I'd rather spend my vacation touring museums or hitting up Parisian dive bars (if those exist lol), honeymoon kind of seems like laying on the beach together or camping together would work.

That Greece honeymoon looks pretty great, too.

I'd probably find a compromise between what I want and what she wants. There are always places to hike and kayak and have adventures in places like Bora Bora. I'd happily lounge at the beach too.

I mean my dream vacation would be like... having a plane drop us off in the middle of Alaska and hike out. Ha, probably not happening.

I've never been anywhere cool. So really I'm not picky at this point where I go for a honeymoon lol.

Although from what I've seen in pictures and heard, k9krazee I would LOVE what you got to do!
Realistically, Josh and I will likely end up in some cheap(ish) resort somewhere nice and warm. Though I do have my concerns about him and an open bar

We went on a Caribbean cruise. I have no complaints. It was wonderful spending that time bonding and exploring.

The ideal honeymoon for me would be a European tour. London, Athens, Paris, etc, each for a few nights.

We kind of did something in between: we rented a nice private mountain cabin up in the Smokies kind of near a lot of resort areas and national forests, so we could spend days time either lounging around the cabin (which had pretty much all the amenities a person could want) or lingering over dinner at the nice restaurants near the resorts or hiking in the mountains and swimming in the mountain pools then going back to the cabin or ...

It was nice. I am really not a beach person at all and love hiking but it was lovely to have the cabin to retreat back to (or never leave) and have a long soak in the jacuzzi after wandering the mountains for hours.

Dream? An island or private beach somewhere that it can be just us.

Reality? Any beach. Lmao. I love the ocean. It makes me happy :)

That is exactly what appeals to me. We'd both like to travel out west-- Grand Canyon, Badlands, etc.
