If you don't already live/have lived in an apartment, do you think your dog(s) would do well in that in evironment or would they get you kicked out? Forget about weight limits, imagine if this was a place that allowed every breed and size.

Abby would do well. She is not vocal or destructive (being a senior helps:hail:) and mostly sleeps all day.

Deputy would be so-so. If not for his dementia he would be perfect. He to, sleeps most of the day, but when he has his "fuzzy" moments, will bark his head off.

Zane whines too much and hates being around strange people.

Kieber is all over too insane. He has the vocal range of a chimpanzee, I swear this dog sounds like a monkey at times.

Mine are all adaptable, and Pepper would be just fine, but I have no doubts Auggie and Payton would hate it. And so would I. No backyard? Ugh.

We are not apartment folk.

Blitz. Never!! He needs constant work and real farm stimulation.

Truman I'm sure would be fine when he's older. He's got an off button even for a puppy.

With adequate exercise, Maisy and Squash could no problem.

Pip... probably not. The space would be ok, but I've stayed at hotels with him before and he alert barks to every little thing. I suppose he might get used to it with time in an apartment, but we might get booted before that happened.

Jackson would be fine once he got used to it. He'd probably be a little bit more on edge about noises, and I'd have to get a handle on barking at inappropriate things, but overall, I think he'd easily adapt. When we stay in hotels, he usually does pretty great. It's just that I have to remind him he doesn't need to bark at that person walking by our room lol... but we've only ever done, like, 4 nights? Usually by the 2nd or 3rd night, he's perfectly adjusted.

They've done/would do well. Lily is great in any situation. Depending on what our neighbor's were like I might have to add DAP back into Scout's management to help lower her body's cortisol levels.

Past experience has shown that to be the most effective supplement to her regular combo of behavioral training and normal mental/physical work to aid in reducing her body's tendency to abnormally high stress levels. :)

Having Dekka in at Apt has shown me how adaptable dogs can be. She grew up on a farm and didn't switch to urban life till she was 8.

Watson probably would have gotten us kicked out of an apartment by now. He's always had minor SA and when he was younger I recorded him barking in his crate for over and hour when we left in the morning. He's much better now, but it took 2 years to get there.

He's actually living in an apartment most week days now, due to my job. But we are with my parents who are retired, so he's only left alone for a few hours at a time max and is doing very well. So maybe he will make a good apartment dog some day, but not when he was younger.

He's actually been very good about barking at noises or things he sees out the window. It took a couple weeks of shutting the blinds whenever he barked at passing dogs, but now he just watches quietly. Our house is completely isolated, so for a dog who isn't used to see anyone passing by he adjusted very quickly. He's never been a super barky dog though, other than when left alone.

The paps have lived in an apartment just fine. Hank would be fine too though I do enjoy utilizing the yard with him more. Aka you're being annoying, go outside for a while. :p

Both of mine would do fine individually. They are non-destructive, and we already live in a condo with no yard.

Together, they tend to alert bark more than either does alone. Although they are perfect and quiet in hotels, I think that once a place is 'theirs', they would start barking more.

Frag has been fine.

Recon would be fine.

Patton would bark too much, probably.

They'd all be fine in the house otherwise.

I have lived with Leo in an apartment, so I know that he does excellently.

He does not bark and is not destructive, and has a great off-switch in the house. I do prefer the house I am in though, just because I have the ability to throw him in the backyard if I have to go out for a long time, so that he doesn't have to hold it so long.

I think he actually prefers the apartment, because I am slightly more active with him. He still gets the same amount of running where I live now, but he got way more walks when we were in the apartment.

The biggest potential problem would be barking. On the one hand, depending on the apartment layout and what floor we were on, he may not bark at dogs outside anymore. If the windows are high enough off the floor or we're up a couple of floors he probably wouldn't notice/care. The only worry I have is him barking at people's voices and door knocking other than our own. I think he'd adjust to other noises, but disembodied voices are a fairly big trigger for him and of course knocking because he'd assume it's our own door.

Other than barking he'd be fine, but barking is a big one.

Yes definitely, though it is harder with roommates because he'll bark at people coming in and out of the house. I can work with that though - he's lived in an apartment with me and roommates for the last two houses we've been in. The one we rented last school year had a laundry room attached so there were people coming and going and arguing all the time, but Trent ignored them completely. After the first day or two he usually figures out what's alert worthy and what's not. No idea how, but I'm not complaining.

I've lived in apartments since I moved out of my parents' house, and both of my dogs have been large (well, Pan is kind of a shrimp) high energy dogs that hate strangers.

I've lived in large, busy apartment complexes, and it wasn't much fun when they were puppies, but it worked out (with a lot of training, ha). I'm currently in an apartment above a business, which is a lot nicer.

I was a bit worried about possible barking when I got Pan, but she's a pretty quiet dog, so I lucked out there.

Currently dwelling in an apartment with a malinois, a kelpie and a golden. I spend a good 4 hours of my day outdoors exercising them. I also have a treadmill for them which Bindi likes to run on 3 miles a night :)

We're managing well but it's not ideal.

Toby is/would be fine. We lived in a 2 bedroom (930sq ft) apartment last year, a 3 bedroom (1400sq ft) this year, and have plans to buy a house next year.

He's come with us to the farm too and done well, and in townhouses and so on he also does fine. I have even brought him to work with me (gift shop) and he does fine there too.

Both of mine lived in an apartment prior to this year, so...yes. :p

Abrams would have to have another refresher course on what noises are appropriate to hear from neighbors and what aren't, but once he was back into the swing of things and knew what was "normal" he'd be just fine. We'd also have to have a park nearby for us to play fetch in. And he'd cry not being able to play with the hose in the yard anymore.

Cynder thrives in an apartment.
