The world's largest Grizzly bear was shot and killed a few days ago. It measured in a little over 14 feet high or so (when standing on it's back legs). It could see over a 1 story house! I thought that was interesting, my husband just told me about it. I guess it will be stuffed and put on display at the Smithsonian museum. That's a huge bear!

no, I don't. My husband heard about it at work and called and told me about it. I was hoping that it would show up on AOL but it hasn't. It was shot up near Ontario he said.

Nothing new came up with a yahoo or google search.

Julie, where did he here this story?

Saje it would be record for the largest griz taken by a hunter.

I worked on a house for a guy that supossedly has the record for the largest griz taken with a bow and arrow.

He heard it from a guy at work who said he saw it on the Discovery Channel. I did an AOL search and there was an article from a few years back about a guy killing a grizzly that stood over twelve feet. maybe that's what this guy is talking about.

I know that. It was just the reporter in me challenging facts. They don't know it was the largest bear ever ... :p

That story was copywritten in 2003. Isn't it a new record or am I reading it wrong?

Sorry, I sort of jumped to the chase with the largest grizzly bear thing. Maybe there's a different bear that was just killed who knows.

Geez that's a lot of blood. I saw the same pics but a different version of the story posted on CollegeHumor.com a few years ago. In that version, the guy was a park ranger and killed the bear with a .357 handgun as it was charging him; the bear is now stuffed and displayed in the Anchorage Alaska Airport.

Which is the real version? Dum dum duuuuuummm....

The Griz in our airport has been there for many years and will be for many years to come. The animal in this story is not a record and is not on display anywhere that I know of.

I'm willing to make the trip to Alaska, just to see that bear. I've never actually seen a bear up close and I can't really get a good mental image of it. I dont' have anything that large around here to make a comparison. The closest I can come is that it can easily see out of the deep end of the pool when on it's hind legs.

I have to be honest, the bear I remember in the Anchorage airport Im not sure if it is still there and Ive been travelling that airport before I was a year old. I hope that bear is still welcoming visitors to Alaska, cause that bear was allways a welcome home to me.

Im fairly certain that bear is now in our international airport. For my own interest Im going to find out, it was my welcome home.

The Anchorage Airport has been through a major rebuild and i dont get out of state much.
