It surprised me to see how fast she ate her bones. Might be because mine take forever to eat there's. lol

ETA: Actually, correct that, mine never get to eat there bones. Kassie is too small to chew them up. Tilly doesn't have enough teeth and Boomer isn't all that crazy about raw meat, so he nit pick the meat off the bone.

Kassie would probably eat the chicken bones but she's sensitive to poultry so that's not an option.

I think Grammy was commenting on the post previous to hers where there's a video of a dog eating their raw meat and bones. And on how fast she ate it. Surprised me too, but then again, mine don't eat that fast. lol

At least this thread is keeping me entertained!:rofl1:

I know RawFeddogs too well to even bother. He has a record and it seems like he's trying to continue it on Chaz. He may even beat Mike/Crush for arrogance!

My thoughts exactly. This thread is like a set up...and a repeat. He really has a lot of good information but always comes off as RawFedGod.

Wow....35 pages??

WTG guys.

What I've learned:

Feed raw! But you'll probably be doing it wrong anyway.

My dogs are unhappy.

My dogs are going to live 30 months less than originally planned.

Bacon is god, and cake is a requirement for normal body function.

Shun the fruits/veggies and non-believers.

SSSHUUUNNNNN.
:rofl1::rofl1:

Stealing some of that for my sig.

Now, Crush was attempting to 'educate' too, we just didn't agree with him. ;)

When someone is preaching at people and adding snide little comments here and their about the other point of view's intelligence, then they are not going to get very far. That is arrogant and unnecessary and will turn people away from their cause. I get the feeling for RawFedDogs it's less about helping other people with food choices and more about making himself feel special and important by belittling others. Just based on my experience with him (which has been quite a lot unfortunately)
Spot on, Laur. . .

It's all pretty silly. You have to look at each dog's response to a particular diet. There is no ONE perfect diet for all dogs and no one person who has the ultimate answer.

Feeding a Fila is different from feeding a Doberman or a Dane and they are different from feeding a Chihuahua or a Papillon.

The key is to educate yourself with an open mind and KNOW YOUR DOG.

LOL! Isn't it the same thread we have over and over with various fanatics? Remember Bobsk8, and oh . . . what was his name? Bob's mentor? We've had so many they've all run together

Geez, I can almost predict the posts word for word -- just plug in a different subject. It's kinda like the creation vs. evolution threads and religion threads on a local forum.

Scientific evidence?

Wait . . . . Let me follow the thread protocol and pull some out of my . . . . ;)

Trolls are delicious when roasted over open flames, though. . . ;)

Here's a video of Jersey eating her raw meal:

YouTube - Jersey eating her RAW meal
How much food is that? I think my 90lb GSD gets about that much!

I don't see this as "wolfing down". The dog is clearly enjoying his meal. Daisy can demolish 3-4lbs of food in the same amount of time. Gunnar is a bit more meticulous, and Bruzer will take 20 minutes to eat a chicken thigh, but I'd rather he break it all up and not choke on it.

The 1st raw meal Gunnar got had a big chicken drumstick in it. He turned the drumstick long ways and swallowed it whole, and started to yelp. I was crapping bricks- after talking my wife into this new diet, my dog is going to choke on his very first meal! Luckily he got it down, and ever since then he's been more careful.

Renee= Bobsk8 was my buddy! He religiously fed that one brand of food and then it turned out to be one that had the chemical problems and he finally shut up about it.

Tallulah was a riot the first time I gave her raw chicken. She surreptitiously watched Bimmer and Kharma eating theirs to figure out just what she was supposed to do with that thing :rofl1:

Dan, he was still on about it here long after it was discovered to have been part of the recalls. (that's not what got him banned, though) Maybe he's tolerable elsewhere. Maybe he learned a little about acting like an adult. I hope so.

Nope. I think it has been proven beyond resonable doubt that dogs are not only decended from gray wolves, they actually ARE gray wolves. mtDNA is very accurate in determining lineage. Ths is the part of DNA that is passed directly from mother to offspring. Only females carry mtDNA. You should read the works of Robert Wayne on his mtDNA studies of dogs and wolves. Not only did he determine conclusively that dogs decended from wolves, he proved that there was no other animal that mated with a wolf to create a dog. A dog is 100% wolf.

Wayne determined that there is 0.02% difference between a wolf and dog mtDNA. A coyotte is .4% different. A chimp is 2% different from a human. So, a dog is 100 times closer to a wolf than we are chimps. I'm reciting these numbers off the top of my head but they are going to be pretty close.
Ok first of mtDNA is mitochondrial DNA. Not nuclear DNA. The 2% difference touted around for the difference between human and chimp is nuclear.

Mitochondrial DNA is passed from a mother to her offspring. It DOES denote relation when looking at similarities. BUT just to provide a more full picture. It is NOT proved beyond doubt (nothing in science ever is lol) Darren Naish: Tetrapod Zoology: Controversial origins of the domestic dog is an educated look at the idea that dogs did NOT come from wolves.

All he did was conclusively prove that dogs share an acestor with wolves. NOT that they came from wolves. (they might have done so.. but that is NOT what he proved)

Wasn't bobsk8 all about Canidae? (at least I think that's what it was, maybe not)
Canidae wasn't involved in all that china wheat stuff were they? I recall them coming through that unscathed..........THEN after all that was over they changed their formula and it started making dogs puke and poop ORANGE  LOL I used that brand for quite some time myself and that's why it sticks in my mind, LOL

Somewhere deep in the bowels of this forum, there is probably still a picture I doctored up of the actual Bobsk8 with a testimonial about how much Smoky loved Natural Balance. edit- found it!

He's on a keyboard forum I belong to and he's just as much of a nitpicker there. Only the gear he uses is good, everything else sucks.

Somewhere I heard about him using an e-collar on his dog to get her to listen better, but in all the bad ways- using it for the actual training, not for proofing or problems.
