The dogs I'm interested in are all extremely different from one another. Which one I go with depends a lot on timing. If I lose Bear before Pig is trialing, I'll probably end up adding a mastiff. If he's still around after Pig's at a comfortable level with her training, I'll get another performance prospect. It would most likely be a dobe, but koolies are on the table as well. Than there's always the possibility that I'll end up bringing another random shelter dog home. So really, I have no idea.

Plott. Unless the perfect lurcher heads my way... but I'm pretty sure the perfect plott (for me) is a lot more likely.

Quite a ways off, but Standard Poodle. Then, again, long way off, another Chow.

German Shepherd Dog from a breeder, not quite sure exactly where from or when yet. I've been passively looking but no concrete plans.

Although admittedly, I have been looking at bully mixes in rescue... and I may or may not be in danger of seriously applying for one in the future.

Yessss. Look deep into Aija's eyes and remember this. Bully baby, bully baby, bully baby.

I'm not sure. With the dogs I've got at the minute another dog is a looooooong way off and it really depends on where Im at in my life then. I'm thinking it will be 6 or 7 years away at least. Then after that it depends on what job I have. I have 2 jobs that I really want to do now but they're complete opposites. The two breeds I'm thinking of are either a Kelpie or a Flat Coat. If (god forbid!) something happened to any of my dogs before then I would maybe get a retired greyhound from rescue.

A whippet. Preferably long haired, but I'd consider a short hair from the right breeding.

Or a BC. Or, should I have my own place, a Koolie.

"Next" dog will be Jack if/when my boyfriend decides he can live with us. He is pretty anti-large dog because he's only ever had outside hunting dogs growi g up and is convinced dogs should not be indoors. He will agree to a small dog that lives in the house, but I'd feel guilty betraying/abandoning Jack and don't really have a desire to have a small dog. So until we agree on something we will remain dogless, which is okay right now. I won't give up on the Jack situation, just treading lightly.

I'm really not 100% positive what my next dog will be or even when. I'm still on a waiting list for an Ibizan litter planned for 2013. I'm hoping by then I will be more in a position to add another dog, but as of right now I'm not really positive if I will be.

I've checked out so many different breeds in the past few months and there are quite a few I could see myself owning such as Xolos, shelties and of course border collies.

I think I have at least come to a decision on what I want when the time comes but the when is still debatable.

My number one choice is an Ibizan Hound still. My other half discouraged it because the purchasing price from the breeder I really want one from isn't all that cheap... But I don't think the price is too steep either. Honestly... It's about what I would expect to pay for an Ibizan Hound pup.

However, I'm also in contact with a couple greyhound rescues and if the perfect greyhound popped up I might sway away from purchasing an Ibizan pup from a breeder. It would really have to be a greyhound that's a really good fit for us and it would have to be a female because of Bamm.

While there are definitely other breeds I would love to have as I mentioned above I really want to compete in lure coursing which is a big reason I feel more inclined to go the sighthound route.

I would honestly love to have a Xolo one day though.

Long long long way off for me. I'm not sure I even want another after the current dogs. But hopefully it will be a working type Cocker or Springer. At this point, if either came along, I'd be happy. I love them both equally. No more dogs until either Katy or Lucy are gone though. They have enough energy for like 4 dogs, so its too many!

I admit I'm not up on those kind of off hound breeds...I looked these up and wow, I'm wondering if Skye is more of a foxhound/mix than the pointer mix I thought she was.
do you have better pics? the little one at the bottom of your posts looks sighthoundy & a lot of competition foxhounds have some grey added for speed. Ben Hardaway is the only serious houndsmen I know of that really tried to split the difference by running sightXscent hounds on the outside. most coyote hunters just keep some of each.

surprisingly, there are some good working sighthounds in CA both pure (NOFCA events) & cross bred. what are you looking for in a lurcher? if you want, find me on FB and look for Natasha on my friends list. she has good running dogs distantly related to Sonic & she's a peach of a lady.

Certainly.

I think she's always going to be anyone's best guess, but she's from Florida and some sort of hunting mix isn't so far fetched.

Dobe.

But may end up with some kind of guardian breed for the outside animals since the coyotes are getting worse and we are discussing goats and chickens etc.

she does look an aweful lot like someone put some grey into their goodmans. most pen/competition foxhounds are built the same way. any numbered tatoos or scars on the ears, lip, inner thigh or pits? some AR whackos will steal dogs during hunting seasons & cut out the tatoos before dropping them off at a pound or rescue.

Nope, she was tied up outside the vet office I worked at when we came in in the morning. Old leather collar enscribed "Shy". She seemed to be just under a year old, was spayed already, and housebroken. I don't think she came direct from a hunting operation as I wouldn't peg them to spay and housebreak them.
