What kind of tags do you like for your dogs? Ive been seeing ALOT of different tags, from plastic to the classic metal and even 14k tags! I really like the ones that have cool designs on them but im not sure if she should get one of those.

I ordered Lizzie and Laika (moms Golden) two bone shaped tags (Purple for Lizzie Pink for Laika) because those are the ones that I am familiar with. Ive tried the heart ones but I dont like the shape, they look like blobs not hearts.

Anyone have those cool tags with the designs on one side? Are those pretty good or do they fade? I need something she swim with and doesnt fade

I L O V E these tags! All of them are freakin sweet, and the company is wonderful. They guarantee their tags for life! I really like the collar-tags, but I use harnesses on my dogs often and switch up their collars, so I would need to be different ones (for instance sometimes they're wearing flat nylon, sometimes rolled leather, usually nylon harnesses). They both have red plastic hearts with their name on one side and my name, addy, and number on the other side. The hearts are super-durable and cute.

Fozzie wears his plastic ID tag, his county license tag, & he will wear an AVID tag once he is micro-chipped.

i use boomerangtags too! i have both collar tags and harnesses, and i LOVE that i can switch the tags up easily.

i only use metal tags - i use their collar tags (though i want to try a military tag right now).

rah only wears tags when he is out - he currently has his rabies tag, his license, and a "I'm LOST - DOBERMAN RESCUE" with his number attached to it given by the rescue.

Riot has a police badge shaped tag with his name, address and phone number on it, as well as a petlynx lisence - basically means hes registered online as well incase his other tag falls off.
I dont have his rabies tag on his collar - mostly because its tacky... its a big red heart lol Doesn't match his other tags.
When he goes to the cottage, he'll have to wear it though, along with his other tags.

We are tagless here.

My dogs don't wear collars unless they are out with me.

Rabies tags stay attached to their crates in the van.

Oo thats a good idea! I never thought of that! For at shows and such.

Our pups dont wear collars unless they are going somewhere as well. Although, Chime does have hers on much more then the others, mostly b/c she has some ID tags on her incase she gets out somehow.

I used to get new tags every 6 mos (it's a weakness I tell you!). I currently have CGC tags (plastic with CGC logo on front and info on back) on the adults and the pups have temporary bone tags with their info. My next purchase will be military style dog tags. That should hold me for a few more months. I'm considering these. http://www.earthbounddog.com/ lol. Actually these : http://www.gotags.com/

I like to hear the jingle, so they wear their ID and rabies license tag. If you don't like to hear the jingle, they make neat little pouches that slide onto the collar and hold the tags.

My dogs wear their collar tags......stainless steel and guaranteed for the life of the dog..........also from boomerangtags. I posted about them before, A great tag company!!! They also wear their rabies tag, and dog license, it is a law around here and they enforce it to the extreme.

My guys are usually naked... If we're walking somewhere like tonight, at the conservation area, I'll put their collars on and it has their rabies tag on it. Otherwise their naked and they love it ;) ROFL

well, i can't stand the jingle of tags waking me up too early in the morning, but my dogs wear theirs collars all the time, and have an i.d. tag, a license, and scrap wears her rabies, ugh! too much noise! I may take off the rabies tag,b/c if she has a town license, then she automatically has a rabies...
I ordered some cute id tags from ebay, cheap, and cute!

THIS is one reason why my dogs do not wear collars unless I have a leash attached to them.

http://www.breakawaycollar.com/yourdog.cfm

The other reason is it spoils the coat for the ring by making a permanent wave/dent/wrinkle around the neck.

For me, collars are too dangerous to be worn without direct supervision.

JMO as always....

Sawyer has a bone tag with my info (his name, my phone no. the vets' phone no. and the city/state he lives in) on it, his rabies tag and his purple star-shaped city license. This reminds me, I need to update his vet's phone number on the info tag...

katie - boomerangtags has a military style tag available now, and it will come with their lifetime guarantee, which is part of the reason i ADORE them (though ive honestly never needed to replace their tags, period!).

I'm with you Red, my dogs are au natural when not out walking with me. The collars go on as they're getting out of the truck and come off when they hop back in. Safety, comfort and coat issues are my reasons as well.

I'm just afraid that the dogs are going to get out one day and without the tags I won't get the back. There is a microchip clinic at the shelter next Saturday that I'm going to, so part of my worry will be alleviated.

I sure understand that concern, Zoom.

All mine are chipped, and escape is not an option here. LOL

I totally know what you mean about not wearing collars in the house. I started to notice myself that Lizzie's coat was whirling around the collar so ive stopped letting her wear it in the house

I have a fear of a dog getting out when I'm not home due to a poorly behaved teenage stepdaughter ... if only SHE were trained properly! So, they all wear collars. I choose ones that do not damage the hair since that would be an issue for us in the showring as well, but with the Collie coat-type, these collars work.

Lizziecollie - check out the Knot-a-Collar (they've changed the name on me!) I recommend this to all of my Rough Collie friends. It's a type of safety collar (loosens if caught on anything) and doesn't seem to get caught up in the hair. http://www.ruffwear.com/Knot-a-Collar-trade?sc=2&category=16

If there's a worry that your dog may get out, I can see having them wear a collar.
Mine are all chipped and as far as my dogs are concerned, this place is like Fort Knox. I've never "lost" a dog out a door but I don't have small kids either so it's easier in that way. My dogs are also taught to sit and wait at every door. I test them often to make sure that an open door is not seen as an opportunity for excape but rather a signal to sit and wait for my cue to go.
