A couple months ago we noticed Charlotte's nose was a little bit cracking, but it wasn't very bad, but since the temperatures have gone down quite a bit, and its getting chilly and windy outside (My dogs are inside dogs by the way ;)), its getting worse. My mom jokes that shes growing another nose. What do you think it could be, and how should we go about treating it? Is it something we should take her to the vet for? (We usually jump up and take them to the vet if somethings wrong with them, but this doesn't seem bad. Its not affecting her health, its cosmetic).

I've seen that happen a lot to the brachycephalic breeds - pugs, bulldogs, boxers, etc. If I were you, I'd PM showpug. She might know what's up, and what to do to fix it.

Good luck!

I've seen this a lot in boxers and one basset hound. The basset is the only one who has bothered to try and do anything about it and what they did was to start adding flax seed oil to her diet and putting MaryKay extra emollient cream twice a day on the nose twice a day. It's worked pretty well for her.

hey and I sell mary kay so I may actually have some of that stuff if you need it... definitely agree with PMing showpug... I've heard of this... but never had it happen with any of my dogs so I'm not sure what works and what doesn't honestly.
