What do you do with in heat females?

We live in the suburbs and have one spayed girl (spayed after 2 heats) and one entire girl. I am super paranoid and when on heat they don't go off the property at all. She can go in the back yard under supervision (in case a male has somehow gotten in I would not let her out unattended) but during the most dangerous phase only out to toilet on lead because I worry she will scale the fence and vanish. She doesn't seem to mind staying home for three weeks because she is an extremely lazy dog at home. She plays wrestling and chasing with our other girl like usual.

Well, I guess this also begs the question: Do you feel your dog's exercise needs decrease when she is in heat? Does she seem more inclined to sit around or be content with less activity?

Mira is pretty much unchanged other than being more snuggley and more flirty -- both only when she doesn't have anything else to do. But she has a pretty good off switch and, failing that, a good down stay as well

Kaia gets horrible cramps every time she's in season. She'll lay around a lot, have to pee frequently. Sometimes she gets mild diarrhea the first day or two. Sometimes she'll be laying down and suddenly screech and howl and then stop when the cramp stops. Glad she only has to deal with it once every 9 months or so.

I'm pretty worried about dealing with our first intact bitch. Mostly because I do not want my boys to fight. And she is very close with Marvel who was really into the ladies when he was intact.

We may have to seperate all the boys or just run small groups.
