We just adopted a new puppy from the animal shelter-the vet has estimated him to be 4-6 weeks old, and he weighs about 1.9 lbs (he's a little peanut). Can any of you tell what breed he might be by looking at him? He was very underweight when we brought him home-we're trying to put some weight on him, but I don't think by looking at his paws he's going to be a very big dog.....

haha, if he weighs less than 2 lbs at 6 weeks, he's going to be a little dog!

I would guess He's got some Minsture Pinscher, Long Hair Dashund, Long Hair Chihuahua... or something!

Either way he's cute! I wouldn't expect him to get much bigger than 15 - 20 lbs though...

Thanks you guys. When we found him at the shelter it said spaniel/mix...well the ears I thought were a give away but... as I got to hold him more and looked at his head shape I was unsure. The vet agrees and says there is no way it's a spaniel either. Well By any means a small dog is wonderful for us. It is quite a contrast to our 150lb bull mastiff monster rug. We will post more pics of him and our other baby often.

wow, unless you pulled a trick and that alpo can is farther away from him than it appears...he really is tiny. chihuahua shaped head. could be some yorkie, dachshund, terrier, or some sort of small spaniel like a tibetan spaniel or something in their. bet he's about the size of your bullmastiffs paw. what a cutie!!!

no, Beau, our Bullmastiff, doesn't care much for stuffed toys-he likes to chew on a bone now and then, but other than that he likes to sleep...lol. We got lots of stuffed toys for the new pup, but even the smallest ones seem as big as him!!!:)

he is so cute, i hope he stays tiny! i got a dog from the humane society this past summer, marley, and when i got him they had him as a lab mix, but now i am starting to think that he has great dane in him for sure. but when i got him he only weighed 6 pounds at 3 months and his paws were tiny, they fit into a shot glass, so i didnt think he would get big. boy was i wrong. he was a little skinny when i got him, and he definately started gaining 3 pounds a week for a loooong time. he now is as tall as my thigh and weighs 50 pounds, at least that is what he weighed last week. he is 8 months old now. so he totally tricked me! i kept saying before, his paws arent big so i dont think he will get big, haha. :)
your new puppy is adorable! i want to see a pic of him and your mastiff next to eachother!
have you picked out a name?

Wow-that's a big pup!! lol. Alot of times it's just a guess and I guess they can be way off!!Our Bullmastiff doesn't know what to think of him just yet-he would never be mean to him, but he doesn't really want to be around him-He's really old and his eyes aren't too good any more-I think having something so small around makes him nervous. As far as the size thing goes-I've always wanted a little dog (my husband has his beast.....I wanted something girly...lol), but I don't care how big he gets, of course. I'll just have to wait a few months to get a better idea before I can start buying a wardrobe for him...lol. Oh-and his name is Brady:) And your dogs are cuties! Here's our big baby.....

I agree that he definitely resembles a chihuahua. Guess when he gets a little bigger the mystery can be solved....lol. (Might not get much bigger than 6 pounds or so).
That was my husbands first reaction too......Wow- 6 pounds is tiny!! There was a fat little Chihuahua at the vet's office yesterday-he was so cute-you could tell he thought he owned the place...lol.
