I came across these pics and cant help but notice these two gorgeous dogs. One is red merle and the other is blue merle I think.

My guess is catahoula bulldog?? The color reminds me of aussies.

Looks like a pup.

Maybe this is a littermate?

Sorry, only pics I got.

The head of the first one made me think bully. Wow, they are just amazing looking.

They are incredibly difficult dogs to own though, they've not been watered down from their huntings roots hardly at all and will happily destroy a house, kennel, whatever, if they feel bored at all. They're hard-headed and independent, vocal and opinionated.

I've seen some that have thin heads like walker coonhounds and then I see ones that have a much thicker head like a bully breed.

Look like Catahoulas to me.

Reggin, you'll see variance for 2 main reasons: 1) they were and should be bred for their working ability first and foremost and 2) there are so many people breeding them these days that they've hit the byb market and of course those folks don't give a **** about the quality dog they put out

add another reason
when the breed registry started, a lot of leopard curs (houndier looking than catahoulas) and a few goodman foxhounds got registered as catahoulas.

Like this catahola, miakoda. Now this guy uses these dogs for hunting, but they just look so darn bully to me. The guy also breeds some very heavy and stocky looking pit bulls... the kind I frown upon.

This is one of his pit bulls. Neck thicker than his head!

It's not as bad as it seems - that neck protector is pretty thick ...

Reggin, that second dog looks to have merle coloration to me and it could probably be a Catahoula Bulldog.

We hunt with a friend who owns and breeds Catahoula Bulldogs (Catahoula x American Bulldog mix.....but now are also Catahoula x APBT mix) and those are some dang fine dogs. But he breeds with care and culls hard.

Could you pm me the link?

And just food for thought, not all Catahoulas are merle. ;)

Yeah, I've noticed that not all of them are merle. I've seen chocolate ones and black ones. Pretty dogs.

Here is another pic of that same pit bull. Is it ok to put the link here publicly? Here is the link...

Facahatchee Catahoula Leopard dogs and Pit Bulldogs

Hes got some impressive hunting photos and some photos of his catahoulas climbing trees. I am not sure if he mixed the two breeds together or not. I havent read the entire site.

Oh and I've noticed that there is such thing as a docked tail catahoula? I seen one breeder who has catahoulas with docked tails and some with full tails. I never even knew that docking is used in the breed.

They have him on their pit bull page ... he looks blue brindle in a few other shots. Nice looking dog. I think the dog pictured above may be his sire or a relative? They post pics of other dogs on each page, but the pics above the hunting pic look more like the dog in question.

I've seen this site before when I was looking into the breed ... I didn't see mention of them mixing their PBs with their CHLDs.

Those pit bulls look a bit over done to me. Like razors edge. Not my style at all. I love the hunting photos he has though. Looks like those dogs have a great time doing what they do!

Apparently there is a natural bob tail. (?) I found this while searching ... Bobtail Info - Cat's Cradle Catahoulas

you beat me to it. i pointed this out in another thread. i & others have been bitched at for "docking" a natural bobtail on houlas & BMCs. and no amount of explaining gets through to the stupid ones.

I'm used to things 'out of norm'. Try explaining to people that such a pretty fluffy (rough) puppy came from two short haired (smooth) parents and see the looks you get! :p
