Okay guys I need your expertise! This is Sierra, the little girl I've fallen in LOVE with and am trying to convince Matt we're ready to adopt. She's currently in foster care, and came into the shop with her foster mom. She's listed as a daschund mix. She's about 25lbs, long and low, with feet that are oddly large compared to the rest of her. And that COLOURING! I can't figure out where that may have come from! Ideas?

and one that shows her colouring well:

Sorry there are no good face shots... she doesn't really like having her picture taken, which she'll HAVE to get over if she's coming to live with me! lol

Another thing perhaps to keep in mind... she was rescued from a shelter in Ohio. Are there certain breeds more popular there which might influence what we think she is?

I definatley see the hound in her, her face looks beagle-y from some angles and distinctly daschund-y from others. Her legs are stumpy and her feet don't match the rest of her, which makes me think basset more than daschund, but I don't see anything else remotely basset hound about her. I don't think she's nearly big enough for coonhound, but that does explain the colouring better than what my co-worker suggested (Cattle dog).

Definitely basset. Other than coloring, she actually looks a lot like a dog I know, who is confirmed basset/collie.

Well, she could be a Dachshund mix. One of the lesser known Dachshund colors is called Dapple, which looks somewhat like the merles in Aussies. Check out the link:
http://www.countrygardendoxie.com/color_pics_dapple.htm

Her head reminds me of a Dachshund, only larger. I think OutlineACDs hit the nail on the head- ACD/Dachshund.
Dapple is merle, and this is definitely not merle.

I think I'd go with Basset? I dunno, but the feet are huge! ACD/Basset? Maybe more breeds.... She's very unique.

I don't think she has doxie in her. Those huge splay-feet just scream "basset" to me. Then there's always the possibility that she has three or more breeds in her, in which case guessing is nigh-impossible.

This picture especially, with the feet and ears, looks very basset-y to me. She is definately adorable, though! But hmm....25 lbs is a definately on the small side for a basset. I know some people guess ACD/basset, but that's kind of small for that mix. Is she a puppy or adult? If adult, perhaps a smaller terrier got thrown in the mix?

You guys are awesome!

I think I might just give in and say she's a mutt :) A good ol' wonderful indistinguishable mutt!

She is supposed to be just over a year old, but her teeth still look young.

I'm hoping to have Matt meet her tonight or tomorrow night. Wish me luck guys. I'm all for adopting her, but the decision is in Matt's hands since he feels so strongly that we're not in the place for a dog at the moment (I disagree, obviously).

it's got to be basset, NOTHING except a basset has legs like that, lol.

Maybe basset X ACD, or basset coonhound? she's got some ears.

I definitely see some Basset in there! Maybe ACD or possibly Coonhound for the coloring (I fostered a PB English Coonhound with the exact same coloring once). Whatever she is, she's adorable!!
