I've been away from home for the last 3 months so I havn't seen the dogs but mum called last week and said she thinks Sophie's had a stroke. She seems to be blind on her right side, she drools a lot from that side when she eats and the right side of her face seems sagged.

She's stumbling a lot more and falling down here and there which isn't good but is apparently still very happy and "herself" so thats good to hear.

Our poor old girl, she turns 13 in the next few weeks so just having her happy and around is great.

Sorry for Sophie and you! THe cat i had Eddie had a series of strokes (weeks and a month apart) and that is what you need to be on watch for. Eddie ended up blind. Prayers that Sophie does not have more.

Thanks for the thoughts guys, they are about to move out to 17 acres which will be good for everyone. Bit worried about her coming back into the summer because she has never handled heat well but it just means she'll get more time in the air con I imagine.

Have you seen a vet yet? Seriously i don't mean to be all negative but the vet might have something that might prevent another. Or at least stay it off for awhile.

Yeah, she got taken straight to the vet the second she started acting "off", she's too fragile to "wait and see" with her now, I'm not sure what they said though. Hopefully I'll talk to my mother in the next couple of days and chase up whats being done.

Good. I am glad. IT is scary when you know that they could have another and worse they might have it when your not around. I don't know what meds are available but i am sure there is something.
