I made an entry for a contest and was chosen as one of the 10 finalists! If I win, I get to take my dog Scamp with me to New York (where he will be spoiled in a posh pet friendly hotel!) $5000 to keep and $5000 to donate (I want to give it to my local No Kill shelter). We also win a lifetime supply of Nutrish Dog Food!

Please vote for us. You can vote every 24 hours, but each and every vote really helps. We are in 3rd and need to get to 1st. There is no sign up, just click the link in my signature and click the "vote" button.

If anyone here is in any contests, I'm more than happy to return the favor.

Thanks! :)

Thanks so much for your votes, guys. It's helping. We moved up to second place just a little while ago! :)

Just curious, what makes you say it's mediocre, Mafia? I don't really know much about it either.

Anyway, a free lifetime supply of dog food would be so much appreciated in our household. 2 kids, I'm back in college...you get the idea. So please keep them coming, I have a week to reach 1st place! :)

If it was free I certainly wouldn't turn it down.. but it wouldn't be a food I'd go choose to buy is all. I understand in these economic times things are hard. My issue is with Rachael Ray. For being pro healthy good food, her kibble is lacking.

The beef formula that she calls premium..
Beef, Chicken Meal, Brewers Rice, Corn Meal, Soybean Meal, Animal Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Corn Gluten Meal, Brown Rice, Oatmeal, Dried Beet Pulp, Natural Flavor, Dicalcium Phosphate, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Dehydrated Alfalfa, Dried Peas, Dried Tomatoes, Dried Carrots, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Olive Oil, Iron Oxide, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Dried Parsley, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (Source of Vitamin C), Mixed Tocopherols, Niacin, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin A Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K activity), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Sulfate, Folic Acid
Not sure I'd call it a beef formula as the chicken is a meal and has been dehydrated. There is more chicken than beef in it. Corn meal.. not the most digestible grain, most better food avoids corn these days. Soybean meal while a good vegetarian protein is often a dog allergen and is usually avoided in better foods. Animal fat.. skeazy. The fat is fine, but the fat of what? Aliens, roadkill, dogs? Another source or corn, and another source of rice breaking it up so it looks like there is less filler.. Other things I could touch on but the list is long enough.. except for the Menadione Sodium Bisulfite which hasn't been approved for long term use in pet food and decent brands have removed it as consumers are becoming more aware and they stand to loose business. It's been linked to health problems.

voted again. You could always donate the dog food to a shelter if it is what you do not wish to feed. That is what i would do.

Thank you bubatd! That will really help. :)

Smkie, thanks for voting. That is a good idea about donating the food...however, a lifetime supply of dog food would be very welcome in my household. I have two dogs and two kids, and feeding them all does get expensive! :) I was just curious about what Mafia Princess meant.

I get cha. I am a single parent (grandmother raising child) and it is always tight around here. Dogfood however is the one place that i am pretty firm about and go without certain things i really should have because i feel if i feed a lesser quality i will pay for it further down the line. I am not feeding the best of the best, more like the best (imo) of the middle ground. I would look at the ingredients and see if it equals what you are feeding now. IF it is then it is just a blessing coming your way. I will vote again tomorrow. I could use free dog for a long time too. I hear ya there.
