Watson finished his championship this weekend with 16 points. So proud of him! It was a pretty big show for Welshies, so there were a lot of breeders and friends around to congratulate us, which was fun. His breeder was there too with his sister, and the primary owner of his mother (his mom wasn't there because her owner missed the entry deadline). He showed really well and took Best of Winners on Saturday (for a 4 point major) and Winners Dog on Sunday (for 2 points). He lost Best of Winners to his sister, so at least the judge was consistent with her picks. By Sunday afternoon he was kind of fussy and done with the whole show thing and it took forever to take a pic with the judge (he kept trying to sit, or move his feet), but overall he was a good boy.
Our first show was last May, and our first point was mid-June, so I'm really proud of how far we've come in just a year of showing. I'm not sure how much I'll special him ... I think I might dabble, but doubt I'll do it seriously. He's also a bit young to compete with the other males in our region, but maybe in a few years he'll be there. He got some really nice compliments from breeders at the show, and one breeder/judge said Watson is the nicest young male he's seen in a long time. I do plan to show him at Nationals next year and while I don't think we'll do anything in the breed ring, it will be fun to give it a shot.
Here are some pics my husband took on Sunday. The first is Watson facing off against his sister, Tessa, in the BOB ring. The second two are awkward family photos. He just wanted to lay down, so I had to keep propping him up. He's making very unhappy faces in both pics. :lol-sign::
And some I took when we got home, showing off Watson's new toy that he very much earned:
