Just like if you hate fruit and cut out sugar/sweets, fruit starts to taste pretty good (and the thought of a big slice of cake will turn your stomach).
Do you people who hate veggies not even eat salad? What about greens on a sandwich or burger??

I mean, don't get me wrong. I love fruit. Apples are amazing. Mangos, so so good, and apricots, ohhhh apricots we have such a love affair lately.
But I also still love cake. And dream about cake. A lot.
Caaaaaake.
I would like a big slice of cake right. now.
And no, I don't eat salad. I've never liked salad. And nope, if I don't like lettuce or tomato or onion (I DO like onion but only finely chopped; texture thing again), putting it on top of a chicken patty and sandwiching it between two bread buns isn't going to make me like it.
Romaine is okay - I could probably eat a meat "sammich" wrapped in a romaine leaf though my preference would be to just cut the romaine and go straight for meat all rolled up on itself. But iceberg tastes... worse than grass. When I still ate bread, if I got a sandwich from Jimmy John's I always ordered the slim because it comes without lettuce and tomato (and mayo.) If the sandwich maker had lettuce on their gloves from making other sandwiches and some of the lettuce got on my sandwich, even after I peeled the lettuce off, I could still taste it on the bread... ugh.
I don't get it because iceberg seems to be nobody's favourite lettuce and yet just about every salad ever is based on iceberg.
Being gluten-free and not liking salad sucks. When you go out somewhere it pretty severely limits what you can eat. I went to a church party and they ordered pizza, had tables full of cookies and mini cupcakes and brownies, aaaaand salad. Can't eat the pizza, can't eat the sweets, don't want the salad. So I was the weirdo who ate nothing and downed two pitchers of water by myself. Meh.
