I'm almost positive Brinley has Kennel Cough. She got her Bordatella Shot a week and a half ago (day after we got her) and she has been coughing since we got her (mostly in the mornings). Dr said the shot could onset a minor case but it hasnt gone away, so we are going to the vet tonight after work.

She has also been scratching more than what I would think is normal for a dog. We have used a hypoallergenic puppy shampoo, and I made sure to completely rinse it out. So I am going to ask him about this as well when I am there.

Vet trip is a good idea.

I would eliminate the hand feeding her immediately. Dogs habituate very quickly to mealtime rituals, and if you continue, you may end up finding it very hard to get her to eat any other way.

Well we took het to the Vet yesterday and he said she isnt eating cause we are feeding her too much!!!!

According to the bag of food it says we should be feeding her a cup to a cup and a half a day, so we were. The doc said she shouldnt be getting more than .5 to .75 cups a day. No wonder she is gatting a little potbelly and gained 1.5 lbs in 10 days. (thats a lot for a pup her size, she is now 7.2 lbs)

Anyway....she does have kennel cough, i have pills and codine to give her twice a day (which she doesnt like). And the scratching he said is due to dry skin (no bugs), so that isnt too bad. He gave me a moisturizing shampoo and a topical spray for that. He also said to put 1/4 teaspon of peanut oil in her food once a day to halp moisturize her skin from the inside out.

So all in all, not too bad.....made me feel better about things. I trully believe you are better safe than sorry.
