Apparently there's no lunch meat, bread, or hamburger meat in our town grocery stores either, and the produce section was decimated. I have no idea though, because I went shopping yesterday afternoon on my lunch break. I specifically had to find some things I could eat in case the power goes out, but luckily we aren't expecting ice, just a buttload of snow. But just in case...
They keep pushing back the start time of the snow. Was supposed to be 6pm, then 1:30am, then 3:30am, currently it says 4:15am. But they haven't reduced the amount we're supposed to get. Minimum of 8"... upward from there. My city is specifically called out in the warning as right along the line where the most snow will fall. Aaaaaawesome.
The worst part is we can't just bury ourselves inside and stay put, because my grandma still hasn't sold the stupid apartment building we all want her to sell, so if it snows, Dad and I have to risk our lives and get in my dad's truck and drive over there, down roads that will not be plowed, to shovel the apartment building out. Because my grandma thinks the apartment building will be "a nice inheritance someday" even though NONE OF US WANT IT. So every. ****. time. it snows. When the cops are telling people DON'T GO OUT. STAY OFF THE ROADS. We have to go out.
And on top of that my grandma went to the doctor yesterday because she's been having some health issues, and the doctor ordered a chemical stress test and then an angiogram and told her DON'T DO ANYTHING. And even though he told her that, when she got home, the snow we have right now had drifted onto her driveway... so she decided to get the snow shovel and shovel the driveway. W.T.F.
My aunt called my dad and told him all this and was then like "If it snows really bad I won't be able to get out of my house to check on her (normally my aunt comes over and eats dinner with her almost every night), so you'll have to do it, and be prepared to have to take her to the hospital if something goes wrong." Um, first, don't you mean be prepared to CALL 9-1-1??? Secondly, maybe you should just stay over at your mom's house... so you will be in the perfect position to stop her from doing anything stupid to put her health at risk, as well as be able to call 9-1-1 yourself should you need to.... with the added bonus of the fact that they WILL plow out the street my grandma lives on - it's a bus route, so it's guaranteed to get plowed - which means if you want to go somewhere, you'll eventually be able to do so much faster than if you stayed at your house on your street which they never plow!! Why is this not the first thing you thought of??
Not looking forward to this at all.
