Trimmed all of Payton's nails with relative ease and only needed ONE slice of cheese to do it. Whew. Hopefully we'll get through this stupid "NO NO NAIL TRIMMING IS MURDER" phase.

I am SO proud of my little doofus. We just got back from CGC class, and he's getting so good. There are three other dogs in class, and one of them is a young lab that he LOVES and she and her owner sit next to us.

We did an exercise where they did a sit/stay with treats in front of them as distraction, a meet-and-greet exercise with another dog, a recall exercise emphasizing speed, and a human greeting exercise where they were tethered and the handler backed away if they jumped, came forward and treated if they sat and held the sit. Astro sat politely to be greeted, even as all the handlers got increasingly enthusiastic to test him. He sat and paid attention to me during both doggy-involved greetings. He came to me during the recall sessions like he was shot out of a rocket. He laid there with a hilarious concentrating expression on his face during the stay-with-treat-distractions, but didn't get up.

He also farted a couple times loudly, and made everyone crack up when they were trying to concentrate with their dogs. Life with this dog is never serious :D

AAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHHH! Abrams just pissed on the floor even though I had literally let him out to pee 40 minutes ago and he hasnt had a lot of water this evening. He was on the couch chewing on a bone, then got off the couch and just started peeing! What the ****?!?! Why does he act like he has no control of his freaking bladder?!?! Seriously! I can understand excitement peeing, I can understand submissive urination...but just peeing...just because? Seriously!? I KNOW he knew he wasnt supposed to, because he immediately stopped urinating and ran to his crate (where I put him when I'm cleaning up his messes so I dont kill him), so WHY did he even start to urinate in the first place? He goes to the door when he needs to go out...so WHY did he acy like he just couldn't help himself when he started peeing?

I am going to remove this dog's bladder. Or potentially super glue a diaper to him.

I may recheck a urine on him...but the last time I ran one, it was perfectly normal. AAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHHH.

Has he had bloodwork done?

No. I've only ever checked urine on him. What would be a potential concern that would require bloodwork? He's clinically healthy with no other concerns, and he holds it in his crate all day and all night with no accidents in the crate itself (as long as there is no stimulation around), although when he's let out of the crate and is heading outside is a different story.... He really acts like he just hasn't developed full control of his bladder, which I've never had an issue with before with any of my dogs.

I may just go back to housebreaking 101 and treat him like an 8 week old puppy instead of an eight month old puppy...

Ned peed on the floor today too :( First accident in probably about 3 weeks. Really, dude?!

On another note, he has the fastest growing nails ever. They were looking rather talon-like so I did them when he was sleeping tonight - he woke up but still let me do them with no problem. He was such a good boy that I was able to take my time and get them done as short as I could, whereas I usually have anxiety doing nails and worry about going too close to the quicks (it also helps that his nails are half the thickness of Quinn's). I am so proud of myself and satisfied right now LOL. It's ridiculous and probably really weird but I always feel SO GOOD after I've done a good nail job.

The 'differential diagnoses' that were thrown at me when I went through everything with Romeo...renal problems. Diabetes Insipidus. Cushings (not directly diagnosed through standard bloodwork but will throw it off). Liver problems and etc. Yeah it might be turn out just to be an excited pee'r, but I don't think baseline bloodwork would hurt. Romeo had/has urinary issues due to renal problems, had large accidents in the house, and has never had an accident in his crate.
How is his specific gravity on his urine?

On the behavioral side, how is it if when you get home, you chill out for a while until he has calmed down from you coming home? I'm trying to think of what I would do if it were one of mine. I might try and get the focus away from going outside right from the crate...after he has chilled out, let him out and call to heel, have him focus on you while heeling through the house to the door (have some treats in hand), do a few sits, downs..

Maybe put a belly band or diaper on when he goes in the crate, while working on the problem?

Mia ran out the door and disappeared head first into a snow drift this morning. It was hilarious. She looked totally confused.

Martie McFly is doing awesome going up/down the stairs now. I think the main reason is due to her wearing a ComfortFlex which has a handle on it, that I'm able to help her in times she gets "stuck".

Now if only she'd go down the deck stairs on her own and stop pooping on it!

Quinn, you're an a-hole.

She slept with me last night, with the doors closed so the cats won't come in my room. She heard my mom get up early this morning and would NOT STOP whining. I was ready to kill her! After sleeping on and off for a few more hours (and her whining on and off the whole time) I let her out of my room. I heard her do her rounds, see where everyone was, and then she comes back into my room, hops on the bed, and is totally content to snuggle now.

Mia does that. Whine whine whine and hit me in the face then after about 15 mins of being awake wants to go back to sleep. WTF, just let me sleep.

Bella's going back to her owner in California after being with me since July.

Billy's going home after staying with me for a few weeks over the Holiday.

Ex boyfriend wants to spend a few weeks with Sir. That's nothing permanent thankfully.

Other ex boyfriend owns Frag and is home from deployment and is taking him back to Kansas with him.

I'll get to see Frag again in February for a few weeks and next summer/fall when he deploys again, but it's gonna be rough. ;(

I just got off the phone with someone in Idaho who's been breeding, training, and selling KNPV dogs for years. He was very helpful in understanding the Dutch half of Blossom's pedigree and how that influences her in bitework. It was so nice of him to take time out of his day to talk to me. :)

Fred's favourite toy in the whole world is a fleecy blanket (single bed sized!), that he carries round with him... He's weird.
