I signed up for a mellow, easy going, 12 year old foster boy whose biggest problem was supposed to be his balls.

Tonight I have a dog who apparently marks indoors, barks, and isn't crate trained (I found this out from his temp foster who's had him a month). And tries to shove his nose up Gabby's @ss. So he's wearing a harness with a drag line and a belly band, because he is NOT going to be practicing marking in my house.

This is not what I signed up for.

And then he frog leg laid. And I forgave him. He doesn't really look like Buzz, Bailey, or Gabby... but he's speckly like Buzz so he's okay.

He's also got a lot more health problems than I was made aware of, so I guess we'll start getting to the bottom of those. We "started" tonight with Dasuquin.

I'll try to get better pictures soon. Tonight we're working on this thing called 'relaxing.'

I swear Beau can look at Mia wrong and she goes off on him. She just launched herself across the room to tell him off. It's pretty well all noise but good god. Leave him alone.

People that are like, "leashes are cruel and unnatural. Dogs should be kept at home."

Whut.

Please tell me you don't have a dog. What kind of life does a dog have if it has to be kept at home all the time and may not even get to go for a walk because "leashes are cruel and unnatural"??
umm, what? I'm pretty sure my brain is just spinning in circles trying to figure this one out

Took Chomper out to our cabin today. Started him off with leash out of hand, then fully off leash with recall. He's quite good about it and listened or followed most the time. There are just some times where he'd get excited and the zoomies and start to zoomie away, but just have to give a more stern, "Chomper Come", and he'll slow and come. Considering I've admittedly put not much effort into his recall, I'm pleased. :)

This Kong Wobbler is such a godsend. Gone are the days of attempting to spear holes in peanut butter jars and soda bottles. Gone are the days of crappy paper funnels as kibble instead sprinkles the floor. It's so simple and she loves it!

Also really liking the new padded harness. Clips to the front and/or back. The clips on the back are a little small and I have the slightest bit of doubt, but I yanked on them a good amount and it fits much better than her Roman-style harness. If I tried to front clip that one it'd just sag and become loose and twist around her shoulders because she has a slender body but she's tall-ish.

Works pretty well to hook the lead to both the front clip and her collar. More secure and no leverage to try and rush squirrels (for the most part). This SPCA rope is way too thick in my hands though when I wrap it up to pick up slack.

It's the best feeling when the time and effort you put in to your dog is noticed by others. It's almost hard to believe that 9 months ago I thought I had made the biggest mistake by adopting Smiley. Everyone just gushes about him, and it makes my heart want to burst. Thank you for being such a good boy, Smiley.

I miss my young Ripley. He was just so drastically different. I love him now of course, but even regardless of normal Doberman maturity, I wish he was as happy go lucky and as easygoing and confident as he was as a young dog. But he is still as sweet as can be and adores his family like no other. :)

I've got my dog with 0 body awareness backing up onto an object. Yay midnight training sessions!

She's having major issues with the dogwalk and teeter in agility, not because she's afraid of them, but because narrow boards + big dog that doesn't know she has feet = disaster. I'm hoping we can make some progress on this. Just for life in general it'd be great if she learned how to walk.

I met a Border Collie that I was totally in love with at the trial yesterday.
Too bad she's from the same breeder as Cobain (he was and totally full of issues - the owner told me that they weren't even sure if she would ever be able to do agility.

*Sighs* I just want another BC that's pretty AND stable

Picked Pepper up to put her in the pool today and noticed she is now QUITE swollen. Double-check and yep, straw colored discharge. Whee...
