Good news... My friend is calling in a $4 script for Keeda.

My transport had a mirror taken out so I'm stuck in NYC until it gets fixed... But that should delay me getting back enough to miss my 2nd shift... Which means I can pick her script up sooner. It sucks bc I loose hours(which means money) though. /sigh.
Yay for the $4 script, at least. <3

The rescue I volunteered with back at my parents is trying to pull a little chocolate tri-colour beagle from a shelter that's close to where I currently live.

We found a foster but were then told that she was very reactive.

So I checked her out with my 2 today. Not even a sound from her. All tail wags.

Hopefully they take her in!!

Everyone keeps telling me now much Fred missed me when I was away. This pleases me :D it's nice to know he thinks so much of me lol. He's my soppy mummy's boy <3

Bodhi was happy to see me, but she's used to me coming and going now, and knows I always come home again! She's been poorly since I came home though poops, and a sore bottom and lips (wondering if she's eaten something nasty). Vets tomorrow I think.

In fact she just did such a loud fart she shot up and made me jump!!! Poor baby.

This made me LOL, I didn't even know dogs could let out audible farts ... mine never have, just really stinky, silent, death bombs.

Duncan barked at the thunder, ha ha ha. I can laugh about it because he wasn't scared, we just don't get thunder a lot so it took him a while to figure out that barking after every clap and bang wasn't going to.do anything.

It's hot outside and it's making it difficult to exercise the dogs. :(

I love having dogs that turn off and put themselves to bed by 9pm.
I'm not sure how Cajun ever reached that point ("turn off" was not in her vocabulary) but I'm especially glad that she did.

Also, I'm not sure how I lucked out and have 4 dogs that couldn't give a crap about thunderstorms or fireworks. I feel like every person I know has or has had a dog with some sort of phobia relating to one or both of those things. It's really nice not having to care about this time of year, and not feeling bad that we have our own stash of fireworks we'll be setting off on the 4th!

My poor little boogie la roo! Vets this morning and she has antibiotics and some rehydration sachets. She has a temperature and is still leaking watery poop. Her lips and bum are very sore. She's fine in herself though. She hates the vets was very stressed! But isn't mean bless her soul.

She just got scrambled eggs and her first tablet so hope she feels better soon!! She's not a sickly dog so this is unusual for her.

Is it terrible that my first thought was "NOW YOU CAN BUY AWESOME COLLARS!!" ...?

:p
Haha, Brittany had mentioned that. Now I'm checking out all the nice leather collar places.

Like this one: http://karmacollars.com/collections/small-dogs/products/the-pacifica

Or even blingy-er.

http://www.pacocollars.com/product/mini-glow/

Or this one.

But I do like her in 5/8th" best... But she has had a 3/4th" collar too.

You can see I've already considered this. :p

Last night while packing I realized the place we're going to trial at this weekend is the place Auggie got his master's titles at a few years ago. We haven't been back, since I retired Auggie at his next trial, and because it's kind of far away and a bit expensive to go to. So this is our first time going back since then.

I am all kinds of weirdly emotional about that. Not sure what I think or feel. Auggie gets to run for fun on Saturday, so... yeah.

This is also the place Payton had his disaster rally debut and a friend told me if I didn't give him a harsh physical correction I was going to have problems for the rest of my life. I hate every time we don't Q and he's a mini-disaster because it feels like "I told you so." I wouldn't replace what I have or haven't done with Payton for anything - I don't regret NOT giving him physical corrections - but I would prefer to be the one saying "I told you so." And we're not. So I sort of hate going back here for that reason too. ugh.

Today I was told that playing tug is going to make Paris very aggressive. :lol-sign:
I *love* that!

In classes, I always have students say, "But won't that make them aggressive/dominant/mean?" when I encourage them to bring a toy to teach them to tug through distractions and use it as a reward.

Yeah, we make a point of tugging at our shows. It's silly, but the audience will actually audibly gasp when all 10 furiously tugging dogs drop their toys simultaneously. We make a point to try to communicate that tugging is good for everyone.

We include how to play tug in our puppy curriculum, to try and debunk any hangups people might have about the game.

Lately, we had someone who refused to let their 10 week old Vizsla tug, and asked me not to engage him with a toy, because it would ruin his soft mouth.

For those of you that do field trials or hunt with your dogs, does this really hold water? I've heard of this before ("oh he can't play tug because he has to retrieve birds without damaging them") and it sounds kind of lame to me. Sending out to retrieve a bird seems worlds away from playing tug, surely tugging doesn't automatically give a dog a rough mouth?

Recon has a softer mouth than any retriever I've ever met and we play tug all the time...

I highly doubt it. Abrams will play tug when given the opportunity (unfortunately, he kills most tug toys so he doesn't get much opportunity) and he still is very ginger when carrying/holding things.
