I was walking Leo, and a guy lets his pitbull out of his apartment without a leash, and he immediately makes a beeline for Leo and attacks him. No actual damage, but I am SO PISSED right now!!!!!

I have already been struggling with Leo with some mild leash reactivity, and now this!

I am going to go read that "When strange dogs attack" thread now, which I hadn't looked at before. My first instinct was to pick Leo up, but it happened so fast that I couldn't before the pit was there. I body blocked as much as a could and aimed a kick or two, before the dude finally grabbed his dog, but I really wasn't doing much that was effective.

I saw him get a few bites in, but luckily when I checked Leo after no skin was broken.

ARGH@#%YT*$)$)#(@# So Angry!!!!! I try to be proponent of pit bulls. I really do. Or at least I always was before being a dog owner. But now, the only dog problems Leo has had has always been with pit bulls >:-(

Is there a virus going around with jerks and their loose dogs today or something? I'm sorry. I'm glad that Leo is okay.

I'm taking a moment to reflect on how fantastic my dogs are.

I ran all 3 of them up to work this afternoon to get their blood drawn for heartworm tests. They all did great in the car together (I think this is the first time I've taken the whole posse out). Then I brought them into the clinic one at a time. Everyone hopped up on the scale and sat there nicely. Everyone sat still for restraint and didn't even flinch for the blood draw. They were polite and friendly and we were in and out quickly. Shoutout to my coworker for hitting all 3 veins on the first try :p, Happy especially has geriatric sheltie veins and is a tricky one.

Just another little thing I don't appreciate enough. I see on a daily basis how something as simple as this can be so... stressful and chaotic and unpleasant.

Seriously!

I took him to play with some dogs about half an hour later, because I wanted to make sure he had some positive dog interactions. He was completely normal and happy, thankfully. Even had a fun play session with a terrier mix. I took some extra yummy treats along and treated heavily everytime we saw another dog on the walk there, so he wasn't reacting at all. Whew!

While there though, I discovered that THE SAME THING had happened to one of the owners there just yesterday from the same dog! Ugh! That just makes it worse. I think I am going to complain to the apartment management, cause that dog does not fit the <50 limit we have and if he's a repeat offender the owner has got to learn a lesson. Someone is going to get seriously hurt.

If it was a one time thing, I would be pissed but still understand (mistakes happen). But it happened yesterday? And you still let the dog out without a leash? You have got to be kidding me!

Complain. And keep complaining. People with DA dogs should know how to keep them contained and managed or not have them.

Payton's favorite trick in the whole wide world is the kneestall. And I don't really know why since it was difficult to teach and required to use of cheese to get it to happen. But it makes him super happy now. He's so cute.

Well most of the blood is pending but based on her T4 lol I'm gonna say Juno will be medicated. She's at a 1.2 and the range is 1-4 sooo... not convincingly normal! This is what happens when you turn 5 I guess lol.

Cynder may be able to participate in a research study on the effects of vertical feeding for dogs with idiopathic megaE!

Actual scientific data on the management of megaE is pretty much...non-existent. So the fact that this university is conducting a study in order to shed some light on the disease for the veterinary world is awesome. It's a 4 hour drive one way...but it will be worth it!

Windy weather is the best weather to play fetch in. I wonder how far I could throw a ball in windy weather if I had a chuck it... Either way, it is awesome to watch my dog run.

Also, RIP red kong squeeze ball. You were great. Now Roxie has ball drive. Thanks for everything :)

Just had a minor meltdown about the fact that Rowan is getting older. :(

Seriously, he's not quite 8. Calm down. Still... I can hardly bear to think about it.

I've realized that as much as I love my crazy, energetic, mischievous dogs, that I will always need an "easy" dog to chill with as well.

I've therefore instructed Pip that he is to live forever so he can continue filling this role.

I'm kinda worried family is just going to show up with a labradoodle for me. It just keeps bringing it up. I have explained to them I do not want. If they bring me a labradoodle on my birthday I will flip my lid.

That..would make sense considering the conversation they had with you the other day. :p Good luck with that!
