What I don't understand is why some people seem to subscribe to the "if you don't like it, shut up or leave" line of thought lol.

Lots of people don't like it so they are offering feedback that they feel would improve Chaz as a forum and the posting experience. Why is that a bad thing? It seems odd to complain about trying to make things better.

Yeah I'll deal with the Question because I feel it's an important issue that would let me feel like I can participate more in the future.

I will say that I post less without quick reply but it's mostly stuff that is short and stupid and not really worth posting IMO. Like "so cute!!" on photo threads.

It seems stupid, but when you think about it... I know a lot of people don't post as many photo threads as they used to because people just don't reply, even in they read it. There was a thread on it a few months ago. Why go through all of the effort if nobody even says "so cute!!"? I don't post them often, and that's part of the reason. The quick reply makes it SO MUCH easier to do that. If six people posted something similar, albeit generic, it'd be encouragement to post another thread in the future. Positive reinforcement!

Hello my name is Ryan and I am OCD about tidiness and efficiency. Put me in charge of the government and within a week you'd live in a word where there's no DMV line, every service can be done online in minutes, grocery stores will be required by law to put all the commonly found stuff up front instead of scattered everywhere so that you are forced to browse useless junk, and so forth and on.

Braving the evil question to throw in my .02 for what it's worth.

I agree that I think QR being brought back would encourage more of the short and quick (heh) replies that keep the forum busier and make threads feel more appreciated.

Also, I second (third? whatever) the adding new mods suggestion. I'm assuming that would make things easier all around. And if it keeps new users from being stuck in limbo quite as long, that has to help keep the new folk coming back.

As far as the clump threads, I think they do serve a purpose. But I do wish big news didn't get posted in there because I'm not likely to catch it and I assume I'm not the only one. And like Linds said, what used to be a five page thread is now just an addition to a thread that won't get near as many responses.

None of these are huge life or death issues... But the little things do add up and IMO are at least partly responsible for the forum slowing down.

This. The questions are BS, plain and simple, especially to the point that the phone/computer remembers them? And for those who say "there is always tapatalk" not everyone likes tapatalk, you know. Some of us like to use the full version of the website because it's easier for us.

I am all for the questions under two posts rule, but having the questions just to control spam seems like laziness to me.

It would reduce me from posting more if I didn't use tapatalk, I know that for a fact... And there are things about tapatalk that bite (don't see sigs etc) so I get why not everyone would like it, for me I'm on my phone most of the time and do find it easier

I just wanted to ditto this. I've stopped posting photos, and they're going exclusively to FB now that I'm back on it. More people comment and it takes 1/10th of the time. My last few threads only had replies from one (maybe two) people, and I admit that I'm human and got frustrated by it. I try to post in them myself, but it's frustrating, so I understand why no one responds to mine.

As such, the gigantic threads are impossible to keep track of. It talks about 20 topics at a time and since it had been a few days since I last read it, I can't quickly scan the original topic or just look at the thread title to remember what was being discussed.

Sass, with the clump threads (Venting, good news, musing) the original purpose was just little things that didn't merit a thread....//.... and instead have been home to some major news....//.... that get lost by half the forum because they are buried in those threads.

You can just get the most recent, and that works if you keep up with them. But if you don't check them you have to wade back and then try to follow who is talking to who and what is being argued about......./

/.....It just gets lost in the giantness of the thread. Maybe not by everyone, but people who don't post often or don't check those etc.

I'm not sure how to say this without being blunt, so I'm just going to say it. People on the forums aren't machines that just answer questions, they don't get paid to answer questions.

Most members here chit chat and become friends--they don't ask many questions, they mostly just talk. So when they DO ask questions, people are more receptive. Also, the answers given for the questions are given weight and not just quickly dismissed. There is a mutual respect amongst the members and that is why they ask them questions--that is also why they listen to the answers.

If people take time to read your situation, think about the best approaches, and type them out--they want to the person to at least try them. When someone comes on the forum and only every asks questions and instantly dismisses every piece of advice given, they will quickly stop getting advice.

We're here to relax and enjoy ourselves--this forum is our break from our day to day lives that give us stress.

Eleonora I find your posts confusing and hard to read to be honest. So I tend to skip over them. But it might be helpful to think of a forum as a bank in a way. You need to make deposits if you want to be able to withdraw.

If you want the forum members to spend their time on your (or your friend or how ever that work's problem) you have to think what is in it for us? I love to help people but I want to know that my effort is appreciated. Updates on how the problem is progressing, actual discussion and as Xpaenx said trying the suggestions are very helpful. But also seeing those members who ask for help trying to help others or give support or even appreciate other's posts.

Its a community. If you chose to give nothing back to the community and just take, why should the community invest in you? (simplistic but I find it is fairly accurate on how forums work)

If you have a question, make a thread asking the question.
"Questions Thread" basically defeats the purpose of a forum. That's like having a "Posts Thread."
