Ehhh, now that I have time to reflect on it.... it wasn't all that bad. (Though this is coming from someone who handles snakes on a regular basis.) It was more of an "icing on the cake" situation since I was already stressed out by the flooding. (and to be honest, my husband was a complete wuss when it came to the snake. He squealed like a little girl when it moved... dead snakes will still continue to move, and he wasn't expecting it. Best reaction EVER!)
The rain has stopped, the basement is about 90% dry, and we aren't running the pumps anymore. No more storm backup, at least for now... but the water alarms have been reset.
There's one goodish thing about flooding - it means a mandatory decluttering and deep scrub of the entire basement, which IMO was overdue for us. Husband is bringing home a fresh bottle of bleach... which means tomorrow I get to bleach the bejeezus out of the basement and finish cleaning!
