In a way it bothers me, though gender has nothing to do with it. I just like being friends with people and don't like it when people dislike me.
As soon as gender is brought into play, IMO you're usually talking about a jealousy issue as opposed to a friend issue.
The boy and I share 90% of the same friends group. We've grown up together, it's kind of inevitable. That said, I have a few friends who aren't close to him and he has a few friends who aren't close to me. Some of mine are male, some of his are female, if that matters.
One of his friends is coming to visit in June, and I'm fine with it as long as she respects me and my home, and is a polite guest. She doesn't have to like me... though I really just haven't gotten the chance to get to know her, so we may hit it off, who knows?
My guy and I are very different people who attract different types of friends. If a friend of his isn't keen on being friends with me, that's fine as long as they're respectful of me, and I expect the same of my friends with my guy. If the respect line is crossed, then we have a talk and resolve it.
