Well, after talking to the vets office this morning, we decided not to bring her in. She seemed to be feeling better, she'd eagerly eaten her breakfast, and her tail seemed to be doing alright from what I could tell (I don't think it was cut as badly as I'd thought).

Then at work today, she threw up her whole breakfast (which was only half of what I'd normally feed her), throwing up a total of about 6 times. I've started her on arnica (homeopathy) for her injury, and slippery elm for her tummy. I couldn't get her to the vet while I was at work, and when I called to see if I could get her in after work, they said they're booked totally full and have nothing until tomorrow morning, since apparently there is only one vet in the clinic tonight.

*sigh* I'm worried about my girl. I'm going to give her a small amount of rice tonight for dinner, and that's it. She just seems not herself :(

honestly, I would not feed the dog ANYTHING solid. I would definitely not feed grains. I would offer broth, maybe a yoghurt/egg drink with the slippery elm in it.

Keep the vet appointment in the morning. Ask for abdominal palpation, ask about pancreatitis, and ask about having a blood panel done.

Is there any possibility she has eaten a foreign object?

I like that idea better anyways Red, she doesn't get grains in her diet normally, why would I feed them when she's ill?

I have chicken broth, I have eggs and yogurt, and slippery elm. I'm also picking up that tea you suggested last night. I might just do broth with slippery elm, very basic.

I meant to add that I'm almost positive she hasn't eaten a foreign object... it would surprise me very much if she did as she's not the type to chew on things or pick things up in her mouth that are not her own toys.

The only thing she ate out of the ordinary before this happened was a new probiotic/digestive enzyme supplement (which we've discontinued, of course).

I'm making her own chicken broth tonight. I have canned stuff in the cupboard, but I figured it would be better to make my own without salt etc. in it.

I'll definitely keep you guys updated, I'm worried about my poor girly too :(

Well, she was eager to drink up some broth (I didn't give her more than a cup, even though she wanted it). I've given her slippery elm, and an aspirin incase it's still pain induced.

She was eager to eat breakfast this morning though too, so I'll just have to watch and see if she keeps it down this time.

Have you given her the asparin before this afternoon? That could be what's causing the vomiting, I can't take asparin because my stomach gets very upset when I do. I'm sure you've thought of this, though. Keep the updates coming!

Well, she's puked again. I'm starting to worry about Pancreatitis, as we just switched to kibble from raw almost 2 weeks ago. Because of the vomiting starting immediately after her tail injury, I figured that was the cause, but I'm starting to look outside the box.

She asked to go out to pee (which surprised me, she hasn't had to pee hardly at all since this started) and just puked outside. She hasn't thrown up since we've gotten home from work but she's been doing a lot of gagging/vomiting into her mouth and swallowing it.

We're definitely going to the vet tomorrow, no question about it. I'm going to ask they do blood work, and though I'm sure she didn't get into anything, I'm going to make sure they do a palpation of her belly. (Red - right on the money as usual. I hope we're both wrong about Pancreatitis) *sigh*

Okay Update:

Sierra's staying at the vet at least for today, perhaps tomorrow too we'll see :(

They think the vomiting is unrelated to her injury, so she's staying to have bloodwork etc done. They're going to put her on painkillers too, for her tail.

As for the tail, well that's a whole nother issue. They did mention to me that the most common outcome of a tail tip injury is amputation. I really hope it doesn't come to that, but they're shaving down her tail to have a good look at the injury today as well.

Send out the healing vibes for my girly please :(

((((HUGS))))

I hope Sierra feels better soon. Uncle Fred also has a tail tip injury, it was hard to heal, but it did heal. It seems to depend a lot on whether or not the dog wirries at the sore spot.
