Running out of ideas!!

Just wondered if any one had any ideas for tricks I could teach Gus! He loves to learn new things (especially if there's food involved!! ) And he's so smart that he gets bored easily.

Problem is that he already knows most traditional dog tricks so i'm running out of ideas!!

He begs, sitting with the front legs up in the air, he stands on his back legs, he pirouettes on his back legs, he jumps up in the air like humans do jumping on back legs, gives a paw, gives the other paw, gives you both, he high fives, speaks, crawls, Gets all his toys on demand he'll get the specific toy i've asked for!!, i've even taught him all the basic commands in sign language in case I lose my voice!! He walks to heel etc.

I find roll over trickier but he will do it! He's not keen so I don't force him!!

Oh yeah and I've even taught him to find my keys!! If i've lost them Gus finds them for me!!

What next?!! Any suggestions gratefully recieved!

Have you taught him how to wipe his paws on the rug when he comes in the house? If you do, tell me how.

Maybe teach him to "Bow"? a.k.a "Pray." It's like a play bow but he stays like that.

Lol! feet wiping is quite easy!! He started doing it when he saw my mum's dog Barley doing it! Now he does it all the time, esecially after he's had a pee! Looks like he's moonwalking, sometimes he gets carried away and starts walking backwards!!

Good idea about the bow though! shouldn't take me long will let you know tomorrow if he can do it yet!!

Awww! Bummer. Could you get some tips from Barley on how to show the young'uns how to do it? Malachi can't teach Amy any manners. I'm hoping that Amy can teach him.

Barley only does the feet wiping coz he thinks it makes him look tough!! (Thing is all the other dogs are laughing at him!!) And because we laugh when he does it, Gus thinks that it's good fun so he copies Barley, but Gus is smiling when he does it!! He sooo funny sometimes!! And Gus really does smile! You should look in the photo gallery!!

Teach him to bring you a tissue when you sneeze! Or you can teach him to open the fridge, bring you a bottle, and close the fridge.

The tissue one is my favorite, though. I saw it in a dog training book and I am determined to teach it to him! How cute would that be??

No wonder you ran out of ideas. Your dog practically knows everything hehehehe. Your lucky your dog can find your keys. I can't make Toki bring his own toys to me hahaha. How about teaching your dog how to do car wheels. I saw it on pet star, maybe you should enter your dog in Pet star. I see alot of potential.hehe

Teach him to bring you a tissue when you sneeze! Or you can teach him to open the fridge, bring you a bottle, and close the fridge.

The tissue one is my favorite, though. I saw it in a dog training book and I am determined to teach it to him! How cute would that be??

Yeah will try the tissue thing! Sounds really cute!!

If I taught him how to open the fridge though, there would never be anything left in it!! He's quite greedy is Gus!!! I think that's asking for trouble and a very fat dawg!!

Hey Gus...you don't want a dog smarter than you !! How about the " doggie Dance" like the lady ?? Chip taught me that when he's out of water . He'll shake like he's wet.... started when he kept bringing me his kong for a treat .... when I say "no more" he'll then come back and ask for water. When I tell him what a good dog he is as I refill his bowl..he gets his kong and says "then reward me " !!

I'll bet you could teach Gus to put children's stacking toys together, like the rings that go on a spindle in graduating sizes, or putting shapes in the proper holes.

Wow sounds like you've covered everything. We make Carey sit or lay and stay, then throw toy when she brings it back we say run, run, and then stick out our arms and she will jump over them. We also hide her toys and get her to find them. We'll make her sit, stay and then go hide so she can find us.

Oh he can do that one too!! This is after all not a dog (he's convinced he's a child!!) Sometimes he even gets up on one of the dining room chairs and sits at the table when we're all sat round talking and starts chatting! He's one in a million!

Oh and Renee, i'm going to give the childs toy thing a go!! I'll have to go out and buy some first though!!

Oh, I don't think I could cope if he got any more Diva ish!!! He already does the Queeny strop when he doesn't get his own way!! I think he gets it from me!! He can even give me back one of my angry faces! Martin said the other week that when he told him to get out of the kitchen and stop begging he gave him one of "My Looks" Which is a "I'm planning how i'm going to kill you looks!!" Lol!! Like Mother like Son!!

Oh and he does quite a good foot stamp too when he's in full tantrum!!
