Today I ponied Milton to the cart with his mother. He is loosely attached to the cart on a fur saver on the dead ring. The harness is just for him to get used to right now. I need to get a halti for him to wear so he gets used to that too. He took right to it, and really enjoyed his trotting along. :D

We will stay pretty close to home for a few days before we venture out about town. He did very very well today tho. :D

VERY cool Red! It looks like they are both taking to it like a duck to water!

I was very impressed with her turn! Just great!

Here is another clip. This one includes halts and starts, and a (rather funny) u-turn. :D

Darn kids! hahahaha, always getting underfoot! :D She had to plow through Milty to get turned......but she managed!

That was great!

I hear random dogs barking in the background. It got me thinking of a loose dog situation while your crew is harnessed in and would have problems defending themselves

Are the harnesses fairly easy for quick release? And do you carry your own "weaponry" for such an occasion? (I am paranoid about that crap after a few bad experiences!)

Coop, it is a concern. Luckily, I am very familiar with my little town. We have spent the last year walking on a regular basis, so I know where the distractions are. The dogs you hear are all behind a fence. Pretty well off the street, but still a distraction. You can see Milton's ears go up a few times. Penny hardly even looks at them any more.

Any loose dog that came up my my hitched dogs would have a lot more to worry about from me than from the dogs. ;)

I have not been carrying my pepper spray, so if there was an incident I would have to rely on the little stick I carry to cue starts or speeding up sometimes. Hopefully I won't have to deal with this, but it sure does come into my thoughts at times.

Thanks to all you for your nice comments. This is the most fun I have EVER had with my dogs. :D

Awww... Penny is doing so well.... and Milton looks like he's ready for phase two! I love seeing the little black and tan bottoms and their cute little bobbed tails!

I'm amused! I love your dogs! I've never seen them hooked up to a cart before. I've heard of it but never seen it. That's awsome!

Today I went and got a halti that will fit both boys. The one for Penny is too small, and I will eventually need 3 anyway.

Like his mother, he paid it no attention when I put it on him.

I actually hitched him to the shafts today with a double end snap, and he helped her pull some. He did excellent turns and stops, and moved nicely with her at a trot.

If I thought we got visual attention with just ONE dog to the cart, the double hitch is even more of an eye catcher.

In fact today a reporter from the local paper flagged us down, and we are to go for photos and an interview next week for a story.

I guess if I end up with the triple hitch going I should just go ahead and hire an agent? :D :D

This is absolutely THE most fun I have ever had with my dogs, and they are enjoying it too.

jingle jingle jingle? ;) I put more bells on the harness yesterday, some bigger ones that were on Penny's basket. You can hear us coming from a block away.

:D
