I've heard before that there is something that you can give to your dogs so that their urine isn't so acidy. Our poor lawn is already getting sooooo burned. :( When we first moved into our new house, I would pour water everytime they urinated to dilute it. It's just not something we can do in the winter.

There's stuff like "Grass Saver" and things you can buy at Petsmart. What are they eating, foodwise? That's usually the first thing to look at...Sawyer left horrible urine burns on Iams, disappeared once I switched away from that. I thought they were on a pretty decent food...what's the water quality like where you're at?

The water quality is good....I also use the water that's filtered from the refridgerator for the dogs and cats. They eat Exclusive chicken and rice. It's good quality food. I'm thinking of switching them to Innova, but I have to get it in Portland which is 80 miles away.

Is Grass Saver safe to give to them?

An article was posted on a Frenchie forum a couple of days ago... you can find it at www.earthclinic.com then go to 'top 5 remedies' down the left hand side and click on apple cider vinegar. Scroll down a wee bit and click on 'dogs'.

Sorry for the roundabout way of describing it, but can you tell I am rubbish on the computer   .

I heard that Apple Cider Vinegar actually INCREASES the acidity, not decreases????

I personally dont like messing with the acidity levels of the urine unless it is medically needed. I mean, who knows what else that stuff could be doing to your dog's system.

In regards to the apple cider vinegar stuff though, I do know that that stuff is very good for dogs and can help with other health problems so hey if it turns out it lowers the acidity level in urine too, its a win/win situation
