I use a cheap mountain bike that my parents got me from Walmart when I was... 12? So it's about 9 years old. I definitely DON'T tether to the bike. We use a 6' leash and a prong collar on both Sir AND Frag, because while they are both good, Sir likes to stop to pee and occasionally puts some pressure to go see geese and Frag is just too big to take chances with if there were deer or squirrels and he wanted to take off.

Starting off at a fast trot is usually best as far as control, endurance, and keeping prey drive down. If we start going fast and they're running, they're more likely to try to do their own thing.

Neither Sir nor Frag wear boots and we primarily bike on concrete when we bike, taking trails as often as possible.

Be VERY observant. The only thing Sir isn't cool with are fast distractions that come up behind him suddenly without knowing. Cars/trucks/motorcycles are fine, but one kid on a longboard (ie my boyfriend) and he will freak out because he's so startled and I had to drop his leash for the first time while biking with him today because of it. Luckily, he recovers fast and has a pretty good recall lately, despite being in front of a school with kids playing softball in the field near our house.
