Hey everyone, I was just wondering if someone could tell me how often puppies need thier heartworm shots, and any other shots that i'm not aware of... Please let me know how old they have to be (in weeks) for which shots and how often a year? Also, does anyone have any idea how much they cost? Thanks so much:p

This is how OC''s went. It changes depending on your region though so consult your vet THOROUGHLY about it. "Puppy shots" from one vet could be different than "puppy shots" from another vet.

At 7 weeks OC got Distemper, Hepatitis (CAV-2), Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, Coronavirus

At 11 weeks het got all the same minus the Coronavirus

At 15 weeks he got all the same as at 11 weeks plus Rabies and Bordetella

At 1 year he got all the same as at 15 weeks and that continues yearly.

I don;t remember how much they cost though

Your breeder will give you a copy of the shot records ... plus which heart worm pill it's on . She will tell you when the next series is due ... when you take the pup in for the health check , bring the records to your vet ....then go from there.

I'm doing my pups at 10, 14, and 18 weeks. (7-way ones) Rabies will also be given at 18 weeks. The 7-way vaccine is done once a year, and rabies are done in 1 year, then every 3 years. As for costs, I do my own shots (cept rabies of course), and it figures to be about $3 per vaccine. Our vet charges $18 for a rabies. (Which burns me up, I can do it myself for about $3!!!) It all depends on where you live though.
For heartworm, I started them at 3 weeks, and do that monthly from May-Nov.

Ok... I already know he will have to get some shots around the end of september, and when I take him for those i'll be sure to ask my vet if she can give me a chart... Thanks for everyone's help!

Your breeder and then vet will tell you when to bring her in for her shots! Like said above it varies w/ regions. Then she will be on heartguard once monthly, and also should be on flea/tick regimen(sp?) monthly :)
