You say your dogs are health tested, yet they aren't listed in any of the databases.

None of your dogs are proven in any way shape or form. You were looking for a breeding match for a ten day old puppy. You have almost 10 litters a year...that's almost one a month if you break it down.

All of these things spell byb. You may love your dogs, but you are far from a good breeder.
How about you e-mail me and ask, hmm? Maybe, just maybe, you're wrong here?

10 litters a year? Where do you get this info from? We had 5 last year. The year before? 2 The year before? 4 This year (2010) we are planning for 4 litters. I have never had 10 litters in one year.

You told me in another thread you average six litters a year. Therefore almost ten. ;)

Ok I shall comment (and I didn't.. this is the comment I wasn't making)

I don't expect you to care. You didn't care before. I posted that due to lurkers and guests on the forum. Its something I believe in. There are so many dogs in shelters needing homes. Why breed at best pet quality dogs when there are so many of those literally dying every day?

I personally don't care that your girl is out of standard and not registrable. I do care that she has done nothing to prove herself nor health tested (cause she can't be at such a young age) I care that you have been doing this for a decade and don't seem to care about improving your practises. As someone who has worked in rescue, as someone who has had to take byb dogs to be pts'd.. I care that you are adding to the byb dog population.

You are welcome to PM me privately and ask questions. Might be a better route instead of "assuming" and then attacking me publicly for it? Just a thought :)
If you post things publicly expect to be asked about them publicly...

Before this gets ugly, I would just like to remind you all to keep it civil. No name calling, no personal slurs, nothing hateful or uncalled for.

Yes, she posts publicly, you can ask any questions and/or give an opinion on her statements...........but again NO mudslinging/hatefulness is all we ask please :)

Carry on.

Wow... I thought Jersey was a pregnant foster that you had taken in. D: Until reading further. That is NOT a good example of the breed, and I'm no Dachshund pro.

Very sad, in this world of incredible overpopulation and unnecessary death, that people who should know better and who have all of the information in the world right in front of them continue to perpetuate the problem. Just turn the other cheek and squee at cute puppies. It's much easier. That is if you don't have a conscience and you can sleep at night.

Dekka, that's what I meant. :) Of course, if the BYB is putting out false info, definitely post what is true so lurkers will see.

i agree. because i really believe the only way to stop poor breeding practices is through educating puppy buyers.

this breeder obviously is going to do what she's going to do, standards be d@mned. she knows better than any of us, of course.

but if she can't sell the puppies, she's going to re-evaluate. it's a long haul, i think. we live in such a "gotta have it now" culture and good breeders require effort from potential buyers, but at the same time, it does happen. it can happen more, but people need to know that health testing can prevent heart-break. they need to know that "show breeders" are not just breeding "show dogs" and that maybe a puppy bred by somebody who does nothing with them but breed their dogs isn't the best choice for producing a good quality family dog.

it always makes me sad when people who claim to love their dogs and want the best for them breed them so gut-wrenchingly young. is it really that hard to wait?

This is what bothers me ! My dear husband wanted me to breed more ~~ no way !!! I always waited until all tests were complete after 2 yrs old and I had a waiting list or wanted an offspring ~~ not for breeding but as a family member . When I did stud out I was VERY choosy as to a good female , good breeder and all testing done . You wouldn't believe the number of calls I got when they wanted to breed during first heats . Luckily most listened to me and waited .

Are you guys listening to yourselves?

I hear things like, "If we ignore her maybe she'll go away" as if we are all 5th graders!

I'm trying to be a contributing member to his community and you all are attacking me!

I have not received ONE of these messages where "you're trying to help" in a PM. It has ALL been a public witch hunt!

This is completely ridiculous. Just because you get to sit behind a computer doesn't mean you aren't talking to real people with real feelings.

And it's not just me. In my short yet horrible time here I have seen this over and over and OVER again! Simply because you disagree with someone. And to the few who aren't as disgusting and nasty as the majority, they are TOO AFRAID to speak up because of how you treat others!

Absolutely pathetic! You should be ashamed!

Not everyone is being "disgusting" or "nasty". You've received a lot of polite, excellent advice from people who have been involved in breeding as long as, or longer, than you. There are obvious problems in your breeding practice that they are trying time and again to alert you to, and you brush them off. With smiley faces.

Take the good advice, ignore the "witchhunt". If you bring your breeding practices to the public eye, you can expect scrutiny along with "cute belly" comments. If you're going to post publicy to this forum, have some respect and respond publicly so that EVERYONE can understand why you do what you do.

MMorlino, the reason most people are publically posting is because you are as well. And there are thousands upon thousands of lurkers that pass through here each and every day, which means that the information contained within these threads is getting absorbed and passed on in some fashion. The main goal of the Chaz community to try and educate the general public about proper puppy choosing, rearing, feeding and training. And included in that puppy choice, is the breeder themselves. It's been previously stated a number of times before what constitutes a proper, responsible breeder and what makes one a fly-by-night operation. Unfortunately, in the world of genetics, good intentions count for very little.

So many, if not most, of the suggestions here, though they may be perceived as a "witch hunt" are actually meant to help you, and any other breeder looking on here, become a member of the responsible breeder community, which seemed to be your intent when you first joined.

Good information and suggestions kept private cannot help the public.
