I just got home from the e-vet and Phoebe is gone.
She suffered a major seizure and is most likely a stroke. Her airway seemed paralyzed for 10-15 of the longest minutes anyone should have to endure. It was heart wrenching to watch her suffer and be helpless.
Kevin drove me, phoebe, and my son 20 minutes away to the evet. By the time we arrived she had come out of it somewhat, she was 'there' but 'not there'....her eyes were open, but it was like she was unconscious, not responding to her name or surroundings at all, still constricted and labored breathing, unable to walk in so my son carried her. This probably wasn't the first seizure/stroke she's suffered this week, and we believe this was her issues with not feeling so good the last few days
Long story short we decided to let her go, there is noway we could watch her suffer through another episode like that one, and the look in her eyes after it was over........we just couldn't put her through it again. My son loved her more than anything, and he made the final choice to not be selfish and let her be at peace.
After more than 12 years of friendship and loyalty, we let her go in my son's arms with all the love we could give. Run free baby girl, run free...........
