I've decided to start looking into classes online. My schedule is hectic, I always end up missing classes at schools and am not too in love with any trainer around here.... But I like the structure of a training course. General training books tend to overwhelm me lol

I'm looking for something to really improve my foundation work, impulse control and overall just team building. Positive reinforcement stuff! I am totally clueless when it comes to crate games, it's yer choice and would love to learn about them

I am taking two online classes right now. One through Fenzi Academy (obedience work for Frodo), one through Pawsitive Vybe (disc work for Siri).

The Fenzi one I really like the structure of because I can go through and work it whenever I have time. I have a Bronze level though, so I never post videos and I don't get any direct feedback from the instructor, which makes it less great.

The Pawsitive Vybe is twice a week and it's a webcam class. You come to class with videos you took, and you webcam with the rest of your classmates. I love that I get feedback from the instructor and my classmates! I don't like that I have certain times that I need to be at my computer. I've missed a couple classes since my schedule is hectic :/

So both have good and bad!

The Fenzi Academy new schedule is up, and I believe Nancy Little is teaching an impulse control class? That would probably be worth looking into for Merlin!

The only thing with online is that you have to push harder to do it bc there is no real time commitment so you tend to keep pushing it off.

Otherwise I really like them. :) I've done a few Fenzi's.... But now I'm interested in the disc class! Idk they had disc online & there's no one really local to me!

I have really enjoyed the class. Ron is a very cool guy, and trains very differently than any trainer I've worked with. He is very smart. Highly recommend! As long as you don't mind swearing :p

I love love Fenzi Academy. I did one course there at Gold level and it was totally worth the money. It wasn't cheap, and other people were posting a lot, so that gave me the push to really train it and work hard, and the online coaching helped me move past a lot of road blocks where I may have given up on my own.

I did a couple others at Bronze which were great. I did one as a Silver but I didn't get any more out of it than if I was a Bronze, so I won't do that again. I just didn't post much because the instructors couldn't answer questions specifically about my dog (since I wasn't a Gold student posting videos), so I just hung back and read which I could have done more cheaply as a Bronze.

I took Precision Heeling at Gold which was great. I also took Intro to Tracking and Heeling Games at Bronze, and Focus at Silver.

I took an Agility University course and loved it. We did one on impulse control and team building. It was really helpful and I liked the structure.

I've done Agility University and would (and probably will) absolutely do it again. There's a class right now I really wish I'd signed up for, but money is tight with Tristan back on a downswing. I'm hoping to catch one later this summer.

I've also done Recallers, and hated it. For me, I need a class with more personal interaction, which is what I loved about the AU class I took (obviously at a participant level). Pretty much daily replies on a personal thread from the trainer made it much easier for me to be accountable for myself than just "here's today's exercise!".

If you have space to work, and can easily set up recording yourself, I say go for it! I was so happy with the class I took.

I signed up for the bundled PuppyPeaks + Recallers course... not worth it IMO. The Recallers part expired a few months after it was activated (I only completed like 10% of the course  ). And I don't particularly care for PuppyPeaks just because I find Susan annoying to listen to (but she does have very good ideas and her games are very helpful). I'm on summer break now though so maybe I'll just suck it up and power through her videos...

This. I really liked Recallers, didn't like PuppyPeaks. The whole platform they use drives me insane. I've loved most of the Fenzi classes I've taken.

I am pretty sure it's going to be the Fenzi classes! I really like the look of that link you posted. I think I might do the gold since it's my first class..., which obedience are you doing with Mr.Frodo? I am looking for something pretty basic we are basically back to laying foundation work.

The only thing with online is that you have to push harder to do it bc there is no real time commitment so you tend to keep pushing it off.

Otherwise I really like them. :) I've done a few Fenzi's.... But now I'm interested in the disc class! Idk they had disc online & there's no one really local to me!
Which fenzi's have you done? I'm looking at the basic obedience ones! I'm ready to comit to keeping up with it in a timely manner, I've graduated so I have some spare time finally haha

I have really enjoyed the class. Ron is a very cool guy, and trains very differently than any trainer I've worked with. He is very smart. Highly recommend! As long as you don't mind swearing :p
I will check Ron out!

I will look her up to! I never knew online classes were such a thing!!

Impulse control is a biggy..
you've seen doug from Up? That's Merlin.
SQUIRREL!!!

Good to know!!
I can use my computer I think...not sure how my dslr will do but maybe that'll work.

Which program is recallers/puppy peaks through? I didn't know these things expired! If anything that should make me keep up haha

I will have to check out her voice that will easily drive me nuts

Do you have a link to her class? I can't find it!

Merlin says "What's impulse control? Never heard of it...SQUIRREL!! LETS GO GET IT MOM!! COME ON!! WHAT?"

We are currently auditing the Silvia Trkman puppy tricks class and I hate the format. :( it is white text on a black background and really small font. I'm not getting a ton out of it just because I end up squinting at the screen and then getting headachey.

I have done some heeling & nosework. But based on what you want I would def recommend the class SaraB posted. It seems like exactly what you want.

Registration opens the 22nd. If you want to do gold you should sign up quickly if you want to do bronze it's not such a rush.

But I def recommend Fenzi's. I've had good expierences with my classes. :) Also, as long as you take one class a year at bronze you can go back to any class you've taken and re-read the exercises.

Copy the text all to a word document - that's how I read through her agility foundations class! I agree, it's hard for me to read that color combo too.

That is a good idea. Each lesson has like 50 pages -any tricks to move faster through them? Plus then I can hold onto the information for the future!

Eta: 50 pages of the lesson, people's videos and her replies
