Today my son and I go up to radio shack and I park next to a truck(a rather nice one) and inside is a dog barking non-stop. I didnt think much of it until I noticed it was panting rather heavily. after being in the store for a while the dog stopped. We were in the store for about 20+ minutes and I thought surely they had left the truck running with the AC on. but when we left it wasnt running and there were no open windows. :(

I have never said anything to anyone before but this time it I wanted to! so I did! and guess what they were very rude. I went back in and asked them if that was their dog and that I was concerned that it didnt look so well with it being so hot out and the woman replied "oh shes alright" I then said its really hot out and there arent any open windows in which she rudely announced "oh yes there is" and her husband just walked off and laughed at me. so I just said as nice as I could oh I was just concerned because it was so hot.

when I left the store I looked again to see if there were any open windows and I didnt see any, but on the drivers side and the passenger side are those rain guard things so the windows could have been opened but not more than several inches. The husband did shortly follow me out and opened the truck door and said to his dog "why you look ok"

My temperature outside in the shade is reading 96 degrees!!! I bet when they drive they have the air on for themselves. like to see them sitting in a hot truck

sorry just had to rant

People have no idea how hot it is in a parked car. Even with windows open on a day like today Yukon is better off at home. There is no wind at all, and it is so hot and humid [40 degrees+] that it would be a killer. I started sweating just smoking a cigeratte on the porch. I really don't sweat unless I work extremely hard so that means it is hot out. Poor dog will suffer for it sometime.

Ugh, I've had to deal with idiots too. How stupid can you be, to leave your dog (who by the way has a hot fur coat) sitting in outside in burning hot weather? People are so ignorant.

I can't believe they are that ignorant with all the articles in the news and commericals on television warning people. I gotta think they simply don't care. They should be left in the car for a while and see if they find it hot.

They will probably have to kill or seriously hurt an animal before they learn. Its so hard for people to admit that they dont know everything.

Experience is a divine teacher, unfortunatly the only one a fool will learn from-Some smart dead guy, I think maybe Ben Franklin

Even if you don't know, fine but there are warnings everywhere about it. I even hear warnings on the radio, don't leave your dog locked in a car. So there is no excuse.

Thats why I put that quote in there. People will ignore the flood of information because they have to experience it themselves. I am making no excuse for these folks. Here is the quote as best as the search engine can find

Experience is a dear teacher, but fools will learn at no other.
Benjamin Franklin

Sorry Ben for my lose use of your words.

With people like this i don't think having something happen to the dog would teach them a lesson. They would find something else to blame it on. I can't stand people that can't take responsibility for their actions especially when it involves another life. How old was the couple? not that it really has any bearing on the situation but if they are older maybe senility is creeping in :p

I remember watching an episode of CSI(I can't help it i love that show lol) and it was the one where a baby dies because it was locked in a car and they showed a scene with the temperature of the inside of the car displayed and it was like 130 or something like that. Now I know its tv but when you get into your car in the middle of the afternoon after the sun has been beating down on it and I would bet 130 is a pretty good estimate.

Sickening

You should have called the police and had them document it and then you could have made a complaint to the Humane Society to check up on the dog. I can't STAND some people. So ignorant.

they werent so old...60ish.

My son said they willl probabaly not like it if I said anything. He thought that if they were that way with the dog they would probably think I should be minding my own business. He was all for me saying something. He thought if it embarressed them enough to have something said to them in the store, MAYBE they would think twice about it next time.

Yeah I think your right

So would I. And I would have threatened them with such in the store in front of everyone. I bet I would have had a really tough time controlling what I said. My mouth can get away from me sometimes....

I think I would have had them paged in the store. "Would the owner of a XXXXXXX license plate #XXXXXXX Please report to the Animal control authority who is at your vehicle" Or "Would the owner of a XXXXXXX license plate #XXXXXXX please let your dog out of the car he is teetering on heat exhaustion"
