THanks for the reply, and yes the trachea is what I meant I just couldn't remember at the moment what it was. I am very worried about this b/c I don't want him to have this for the rest of his life. Not only is it uncomforteable for him in those moments but since he sleeps in my room it keeps me up (or wakes me up) during the night. Also when I groomed dogs we had a little yorkie that came in with a trachea injury and he could hardly breath 99% of the time. It was, I think, actually cruel to keep him alive. The noises he made when trying to breathe were so gross and loud for such a little dog. I never want my Stryder to go through that. I got another video of Stryder, I will see if I can put it on.

Well, that doesn't look as violent as my dogs when they have their collapsed trachea episodes. The air passes through the vocal cords and they make a sound that way as well as more stuggle inhaling. This could be the reverse sneezing, although to me, it almost doesn't seem as strong a sucking in and out as that. My dogs wrinkle up their muzzles a lot when they have that reverse sneezing. But he could be and it's just not the same look. This almost looks like he's trying to blow his nose....more exhaling than inhaling. At least that's my observation and I'm certainly no authority on that. So, I really can't say for sure. Why don't you ask your vet if you can email that to him? Or p.m. Doberkim and see what they think. He probably needs to be examined as well. If it's happening a lot, I would go see a vet.

Thanks, right beside his little nose twitches when he is having an episode. I don't know if that is at all relevent or not. I don't know if my vet has an email. I am going to bring the camera along so I can show her exactly what he does.

Good, keep us posted. I hope it is not a big deal what he's doing....probably not. It's just that it sounds excessive. Maybe it's an allergy to something. Well, good luck. Let us know.

Looks like a text book reverse sneeze to me. My toy poodle used to do it all the time and my pugs do it all the time as well. It's actually very common.

I hope you're right Showpug. I guess my dogs are all drama queens. When they do that reverse sneezing or the trachea thing, it's so much more intense. They put their whole bodies behind it. That's probably why I thought this looked just a bit different from either. Hope everything will be OK.

Doberluv - I'm right there with ya on that one... When my Angel does the reverse sneeze thing she gets all into it. Then right at the end she has a really big "normal" sneeze and she's done! It's almost like the big bad wolf in a way. :D

Yes, I know what you mean. I hate those really big sneezes. Sometimes they bang their heads on the floor and I feel so sorry for them.

My dogs put their bodies into it as well. But, I think that this poodle is putting more of it's body into it than it shows. The dog's coat is very fluffy and the camera angle isn't the greatest, so it's hard to see. Going off of what I can see, I would say reverse sneeze. I think it looks worse in our dogs that have short slick coats...

THanks guys. He does sound exactly like my other dog when he does reverse sneezing but Bear does it once in a blue moon and Stryder does it practically everyday, if not more than once a day and he has thrown up from it (mucous), and sometimes sneezes 2 or 3 times hard after it (though not nearly everytime)

Well, if you're seeing mucus, (whether from his nose or in his throw up or poop) he really should be seen by a vet IMO.
