I wouldn't call her ignorant. It's just a different culture then ours. You can see that in several of our members who don't agree with spaying and neutering.
Throwing my 2 cents in to say I agree, Saje. I have a very dear friend who, prior to his immigration to Canada, practiced as a veterinarian in the Phillipines. He often commented on how little of his practice in the Phillipines consisted of spaying and neutering pet dogs and cats, which is obviously almost the exact opposite of the "bread and butter" of veterinary practices in North America. According to him most dogs and cats in the Phillipines are not spayed or neutered, and many, many people breed their dogs (both purposefully and accidentally). Now, we may find this abhorrent, but one needs to remember that this is a different culture and a different view of domestic pets may exist from the one we hold.

There are countries which would consider our furry friends to be potential dinner "guests" (and I mean on the plate, not eating from it!), and in other countries our consumption of beef and milk is considered weird, if not downright vile (a good friend taught at a Chinese university for several years, and whenever he visited North America his Chinese colleagues would tease him on his return for "stinking" like milk and cheese, LOL!). Another friend of mine from France has often dined on horsemeat, which I find a repulsive thought....

Not every culture holds the same views of animals that we do, and not every culture thinks spaying and neutering one's pets is the only way to go. There has to be some room for cultural diversity in this topic, just as in any other.:)

Yeah. Spaying or Neutering is what you "show people" like doing to your pets who don't pass your standard of excellence. You spay or neuter the ugly ones and let the show types keep theirs. That is discrimination. If you were a dog would you like to be neutered? I don't think so!
Are you saying my dog is ugly and me irrosponsible?

I sure do respect your opinion. You have a very good point. Maybe spaying and neutering is not so bad after all. Thank you. I sure wish some people here will be as polite and as nice as you. There is no conflict when we know how to respect other people.
Thats offensive! You are being mean to my friends because of their opinions!

What exactly does "duh" mean here, Bowow? I see you're from the Philippines and will grant you that you may have different views from some non-Asian countries with the way you bring up your dogs. I would just ask for a bit of sensitivity on your part as I ask for others in the U.S. on their view points. It's kind of like someone from the U.S. getting on a website that's mostly Indian and bashing them for worshipping and not eating cows.

I ain't being rude. I just don't know what to say. Thats why I answer "duh". Being rude is when you resort to name calling like what a lot of people threw at me here.

'duh' is like saying 'you're stupid' or 'that's obvious' I hope you don't mean it that way.

Wow, I do like this site, but as others have seen, I have my own points of view... No, I am not saying anyone has to agree with them, but they are mine, just like all of you have yours. Again, I think we have too many unwanted animals out there that need help, and I find no solice in breeding more at the moment. My background may be different than yours (speaking to all the above), but I think most of us have heart in what we do. Again, I will say there are really good breeders out there, and others who are not.

Why do you feel the need to breed your dog just because she is in heat? If you say there is no money to be made, etc...

As for only breeding certain dogs in a litter... It sounds like a "beauty contest" I for one, hate dog shows... not that you have to bash me or agree with me, I am just speaking my mind. I love a dog, any dog, pure bred, mix-breed/mutt... I just try to save them and give them a good life. It may be that I just don't understand the points of view some of you have (NOT that I am being a bit*h about it, I just don't get it. But that's just me. ) The dog shows, the cat shows, the horse racing.. just does not appeal to me.

As for breeding, I would listen to the posters above, they know what they are talking about.
