Hey!
I just got a new puppy 2 days ago ( never owned a dog before) He is an 8 week old rottie / Spanish Water Dog

I just have a few questions seeing how i have never ever looked after a puppy before.

So far since I got my puppy all he does is eat and sleep ( Not cuddly at all :(:( )
Hes not energetic at all :(
I wanted a dog that would run around and have fun when i take him out.. I can't even get this thing to walk..

And i think thats pretty much it. Im not sure if this is normal for a dog at his age to be so boring..

Lol Thanks for reading

It doesn't sound like you're very happy with your dog. :(

Puppies are usually pretty energetic at that age, but a puppy also needs to sleep a lot to grow.
Has he seen a vet? If he's really lethargic it could be a health problem.

Was he health checked before you got him?
Are you sure that is his age? (not younger)

Some puppies sleep a lot when they are going through growth periods. If he is healthy.. trust me there will be moments when you wish he would go back to sleeping ;)

He went to the vet before i got him and got all of his shots and got a checkup. He might just be growing because the lady i got him from said he will be a pretty big dog.. i feed him 3 times a day and he drinks a lot of water.

I just wish he was more playful lol

Give him time ... he may be just happy to chill out . I'd rather have a low keel pup than a hyper pup . Luckily my Bubba ( who could have been pick of the litter ) stayed in the background . I was so thrilled he wasn't chosen !!! Later the one who got pick said " where was he ? " Me : In the corner chilling out !

I think he might just be lazy lol :(
I have been trying to teach him a few things like how to walk down a hallway with me but he just lyes there :(
And when i take him outside he just kinda stands around.. he has a bit more energy when he just wakes up but i think that would be normal for a dog who sleeps for more then a half a day

I would take him to your vet and tell them what he is like. That isn't normal sounding lethargy.

I'd REALLY REALLY suggest getting the puppy to the vet in the next couple of days. Just because the breeder said he was healthy a week or two ago doesn't necessarily mean he's healthy now. The breeder could also be exaggerating a bit about his age.... 5-6 week old puppies act very much like what you describe.

But it could also be nothing... a vet check could confirm that. :)

Enjoy your new puppy!

Definitely sounds like something that should be seen by a vet, ASAP.

RottieXSpanish Water Dog? That's an unusual mix, especially if you're in the U.S. as they're a pretty rare breed here.

Hmm in that link it says "spanish collie" portuguese water dog

The portuguese water dog is a different breed form the spanish water dog

Portuguese Water Dog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't know why it says "spanish collie" there's not a spanish breed called like that.

However the spanish water dog is also used as a shepherd, but this breed is very rare.

Portuguese aren't as rare as the spanish is more likely yhour dog is a portuguese mix than a a spanish one.

There's a list of the spanish breeds Category:Dog breeds originating in Spain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
