I'm so pissed off right now!!! Every day I call, the story changes!!! I called yesterday, and"the lady who did the applications" was out on her lunch break. She was supposed to call me back today, but didnt. Now, I call and I give anither lady my name, and she says she cant even FIND my application!!! She says the lady who handles the applications will be out until tuesday and that someone will call me back Monday, MAYBE tuesday morning. And she said the dog center was closed for a week due to quarintine. Thats a complete lie!!!1 I was there 47 days ago and the only reason I didnt buy a dog was due to not at that time having yet filled out my application. That shelter is the most unnorganized place I have ever known. I cant believe it is taking this long, this is so unfair to me, and to Chico!

A bad day gets worse....... they just called me back, and Chico has already been adopted. Thats such bull****. If they werent so irrespomsible, I'd have Chico right now....
Okay. Now I'm just plain ol' red-headed irritated with those biddies.

What may have happened is that someone there knew someone who wanted a Chihuahua and they were just putting you off to buy some time until the other person could come in and get him.

Totally a chicken#$%* way to handle things. If there was a possible adoption pending they should have told you it was a possibility and not let you get yourself all ready for that one particular pup!

Things happen for a reason though. We'll all take a deep breath and try to come back down, knowing that your perfect heart-dog is still out there for you.

You might want to ask why the quarantine. That might be something important to know. If they won't tell you, the health department - or even one of the local vets - might know.

You know, often vets' offices will have a list of dogs that need to be adopted for one reason or another. Have you checked with any of your local vets?

No, This place is like 10 minutes away from my house, and it was the only place that when we called, a live person actually talked to us. All the other places' answering machines picked up and I never got a call back.

Check with some veterinarians' offices - maybe even go by and walk in and talk to the office staff. Often people who have to move and can't take their pets for one reason or another will ask their vets to help re-home them, or vets will care for an animal that's been injured and try to find it a home after it has recovered.

OMG! This shelter is bull sh*t. I think Renee's right; probably someone's friend wanted Chico, and couldn't come into get him right away, so they lied to you. That only means that your dog is still waiting, though.

Yeah, definatley check with the vet's offices. I sure hope you get some better luck with the next people!

Let us know what happens! Best of luck Nedim!!!

I sent this to them:

Hello I'm writing on behalf of a boy who has been looking for a dog. He had his heart set on Paco and filled out an application for him but kept getting the run around. Now, he just found out that Paco has been adopted and his heart is broken. If you had an adoption pending you should have been fair and told him so.

He and I are a member of probably the biggest dog forum on the web. We've been following his attempts to adopt a dog for weeks. We've given him advice and sat on the edge of our seats hoping you would call or at least let him play with the dogs.

I have dealt with a lot of shelters and I volunteer regularly with our local one. All of my pets are rescues and if you read through some of the thread on this forum you will find that most of us are believers in rescuing instead of buying from buyers. We even spent a lot of time encouraging him to buy from a local rescue and then he has this kind of experience.

I feel the way you handled to to be very irresponsible and I hope you change your ways for the benefit of the animals in your care. It doesn't take a lot of effort to pick up the phone!

Here is the thread I referred too. http://www.chazhound.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4178&page=50&pp=10 If you read all of it, and it's long, you'll see how this boy started out knowing very little about dogs, what he wanted or how to get one and in the end he had his heart set on Paco and was prepared to love him forever.

Sincerely
Shara Cooper

Nedim, I can't believe this !!! I'm so mad for you !! But, as you've been told..there may be a reason..there has to be something with the quarantine too...you may have gotten a very sick dog. We all care so much for you, I'm even going to call ElinHunter's cell phone on her way to Talladaga! Read page 176 in your book, so you'll know more of what to look for. Saje, thanks for the connection, I was ready to look it up to e-mail my disgust !! Heads up, Nedim... you're heart dog's out there.!!

Thanks guys, I'll keep searching for the right dog, but Paco really felt like he was "the right one". I was devistated to find he'd been taken. Man, talk about a sad day. I was even ready to go to petco and pick up a bed and toys for him. I really must thank all of you, and an extra special thanks to you Saje. Its too late for Paco and me, but maybe your e-mail will make someone elses experience with the shelter a more pleasant one.

I said:

He is not my child. I'm in Canada. And he is over 6 years of age.
Please re-read my email so you will understand the situation. I can
see why he had such a frustrating experience!
She said:
Hello,
Your email makes it sound like this is your child....... we pride ourself in connecting the right dog with the right people....if you are in Canada how would you have knowlegde of this situation thru our shelter.......other than one person's rendition of the situation.......again I would be happy to help you with our adoption process......noone under 21 can adopt so filling out an application here would involve an adult.......Thank You for your inquirey.......peace,cydney
I said:

This boy filled out an adoption application for Paco a long time ago.
If you had read the thread I gave you would see that he was completely
given the run around by your staff. They said his application got
lost, that he was forgotten about that things were in an upheaval
because of a recent quarantine... and then when he calls again today
he finds out that Paco has been adopted to someone else! He had an
adult with him. They filled out the adoption application together. He
played with Paco and said they got on really well. Why wasn't he told
that there was an adoption pending so his heart wouldn't be broken?

And no, my email does not imply that I am his mother.
and the drama continues ... There are so many good rescues out there. I mean, even if that dog wasn't the right one for Nedim he should have at least been told that there was a recent quarantine or adoption pending.

I do not have any other email than from you, your email makes it sound like you are the involved party.....again what are you basing this on........have a great night........
I said:
I've given you the site where I'm basing this on. It's apparent that you don't want to make things right for this poor kid. And I am part of the interested party since I was the one who gave him your contact information as a shelter in his area. I won't make that mistake again.
I think I'll send it with her. It's not getting anywhere.
