mary had the worst seperation anx I have ever experienced, it didn't matter if it were for a minute with a door shut in between, nor did it matter if she was left with the other dogs. I had to have a sitter for her, or take her with me. I am lucky enough to have "grandma" close by. We worked slowly, where I would just shut the door for a minute and praise, 5 minutes and praise (she was a shredder) if she tore something up she would squint her eyes, rock from foot to foot and spin in circles..she let me know she just didn't mean to do it..and so we kept at it until finally 15 minutes worked..and then we were almost home free. She out grew this by the time she was two yrs old..we had to do the same thing with clipping nails..one nail at a time and loads of praise for being so brave....she is a wonderful dog now..but it took a long time to get there
