well if someone wants to offer but needs more money then we can probably talk. telling me all the reasons this wont work and why im an idiot isnt helpful. i dont have the option to just not move, so whatever i need to do to make this happen, be it leave everything i own behind, be it pay more than i can reasonably afford, i have to do it.
My intentions were to be helpful, not to suggest you were an idiot. It's going to be hard to find someone to spend two days driving you somewhere if you're offering $100 as compensation. Also, you'll want to have a better idea of what you need to budget for so you're ready when that time comes. I have driven to NYC and Connecticut a few times in the past, which is approximately the same distance. My gas budget is usually around $300 (I don't keep exact numbers though), but that includes minimal driving around town for a day or two. Also, some of your route is via the Ohio Turnpike, so figure in tolls both ways.
I try to help when I can. I could not take two days off, especially on such short notice. I live alone and couldn't leave the pets for that long. Also, when I drove to NYC/CT, I shared driving responsibilities. Driving 3, 4, 5 hours is mind numbing. And exhausting. I couldn't do a ten hour drive, crash, and do it all over the next day. However, depending on the day, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to driving part of the way. I could get you to Sandusky, OH... maybe as far as the Cleveland area. It'd be a 4-hour drive one way for me, so I would be gone about the same time as if I was at work. Or if you did find someone travelling beneath Michigan, I could probably give you a lift to Toledo.
There's a lot of things to think about that can be helpful. People pointing out that your calculations are vastly unrealistic and mentioning things you hadn't considered (overnight stay, how long your average person can drive in a straight line, vehicle wear & tear, the inability to cut through Ontario, etc) are in no way attempts to call you an idiot.
