I bet he isn't all soft and fluffy - I'm guessing he's got some fluff, but mostly a nice hard standoff coat.

He's really soft and fluffy right now, but Sizzledog is right, his coat will get fairly coarse as he gets older

Yes, they are supposed to have a "closed" coat... although I must admit I don't know the difference between a closed coat and an open one.

Cute! I haven't met many Elkhounds in my life. Only two, in fact! One I actually thought was a Keeshond because I mistook his fat for coat, lol.

I've been lucky enough that one of my friends shows them - she always seems to have an Elkhound special with her... over the years I've gotten to meet quit a few through her. If I ever had room for an Elkhound....

@ sweet72947 HAHAHA! yeah...Elkhounds are known for their tendency to get rather portly if given even a little bit too much to eat, LOL...
