THey told me because of her age that i should take her to an eye specialty care clinic. I could not, there were no funds to go that route. I begged the clinic to try, just try at first they said no, but then they said yes. THe only other choice would have been to pts. She could not live with the mole on her eyelid erroding her pupil. I was putting ointment in it all day but that wasn't keeping it from getting worse. Finally after many tears and phone calls they agreed to try as long as i understood that she may not wake up or she may not recover.
WE were suppose to do this monday. I gave her a hot soak in the tub and took her out for a burger that night, held her in my arms and tried not to bawl. AT 8 am they called me and the vet was sick. Reschedule to today. I took her for a runabout the park yesterday. A small park for i didnt' want her to get too tired, but oh she had such fun. She galloped. I prayed and told myself over and over again. She is a big strong woman she will be fine. BUt i worried, all night and all day until finally they brought her out to me. She made a b-line for the front door of the vet office. I think she would have gone right through it if i hadn't been there to open. She deffinatley wanted the heck out of dodge.

They took a wedge shape out of her eyelid. She has several long stitches that are held together by another stitch lower down on that pad right below the eye. She has on an elizabethan collar which she hates hates hates and has to wear it for a week. First thing she did was hit the food bowl! She missed Breakfast and LUNCH! OH MY!! I have no idea how i am going to keep Victor away from her eye. This is going to be difficult. They gave her a rimidyl shot 6 dollars, eye ointment, a rimidyl perscription that was out of date but just barely free of charge. Total bill, 79 dollars. Guess i better start working on this year's donation. My house is so narrow, and small she can't hardly walk through a room without bumping this collar on something. Scared Victor to death when she first came in. She is upset hope she gets use to it soon.

I am glad they helped you out at the clinic!
I'm also sending ~~~prayers~~~ that Mary makes a quick recovery so
you can get rid of that awful Ecollar! It keeps them safer, but I sure know what you mean about awkward in the house.

Charlie had to wear one after 20 stitches from a huge cut in his leg.
he could hardly walk thru doorways. And was always bumping into the kids and causing scratches on them.... A sad sight!
They kept his stitches in for 3 weeks! A bad spot and stressed with every movement...His vet was great... and he made a full recovery. I wish the same for your sweet Mary! She will feel much better after she heals a little.

I'm glad that's over and $79? that's amazing!
I hate having the dogs wear an e-collar but stay strong - it's bettter than having them get at those stitches and have to start all over again. (can you tell I've caved and lived to regret it- I'm so week:p )
I hope her eye feels much better.

New Name for Mary..Ol Mary round horn. She uses that e-collar as a battering ram. TO scoot me down the hall faster,to knock things out of her way, she is taking WAY to much pleasure out of her round horn.
