Yes, it's an ecollar. In my county, it's legal to have a dog offleash in the park/prairieland as long as they are wearing an ecollar. It's also a safety measure - there are a lot of deer and other game in the area, and the highway is just a hop, skip and jump away. Ilsa has a very nice recall, but she also has a extremely high prey drive and WILL chase game if it runs in front of her. The ecollar comes in only if she ignores the recall, and is only used for recall purposes. It hardly ever gets used, its presence is reminder enough!
Ronin wears it too - his recall is actually better than Ilsa's, but he's also an intact male with a prey drive that makes Ilsa look like a pet rock! The only way he gets to run offleash in an unfenced area is when he's dressed to the nines in his "equipment" - bear bell, harness, long line, and ecollar!
