Time to start getting worried about BSL - Please read. This has been brought on by the recent "pit bull" attacks. I apologize if this is a duplicate of any other postings and for being off topic. This is no time for "it's not my breed" or its "only" specific breeds. Crosspost far and wide!

I was wondering the same.

Goldens? Honestly... The only way the banning of dog breeds will work, and be fair, is to just ban dogs, period, and dog owners won't ever go for that. (Even politicians have dogs and don't want to lose them.)

I signed the us congress and the fire the stupid woman one. my state isnt on the list but Im not an idiot. one state basses a ban, then another and another and soon all 50 states only allow goldfish as pets untill some drunk frat kid chokes while drinking a goldfish in a beer and dies, then only teddy bears untill some child dies from mold spores growing in the stuffing, then only photos of animals on our walls will be allowed untill somebody bleeds to death from a paper cut. NO BREED BANNING!!!!!!!

as in you don't believe those breeds are being banned or as in you don't have one so it's not your problem?
In either case I was doing some research and that list is accurate in a lot of places overseas and potentially is making its way into the US. The list not only reflects so called "dangerous" breeds but breeds that have been bred out so far as to have defect if not bred by responsible breeders. Erego the Golden and Labs. Aussie shepherds if bred improperly can be born deaf,blind or both, due to that gorgeous merle patterning that some have. Also if imbred can be VERY dangerous to non-family members and other such intruders. A few of those dogs have shorter life spans then average due to their huge size. Some have health defects due to their small size. The purpose of this bill is to eliminate 1. Problem dogs that have "genetic" reasons to bite and 2.dogs that it is "cruel" to propagate the breed if bred improperly or accidentally. In theory it is to make it so joe shmo can walk into a breeder, buy a "perfect" dog that won't have the propensity to bite, isn't too big that it dies in a few years, isn't too small that it has problems associated with that, isn't wrinkley because the wrinkles are "high maintenence", won't have hip displaysia, won't have heart problems and won't have any distinguishing characteristics. They want to take the dog back to how "nature" intended but in truth "nature' had nothing to do with household pets. It's a stupid law but a scary one. Pitties are obviously on this list along with other "scary" breeds and so many people are scared of "vicious" dogs that there is likelyhood of this being one of those bills that get signed and passed without being looked over by the average voter. They see pitbull and go "oh yeah, lets ban them" while not reading the "fine print" that discriminates against so many other breeds.

The first one who tries to take my Dobermans will have to take them over my dead body. I will fight tooth and nail over my dogs. Problems dogs(breds) is because of problem owners! There is no other way to put it. If It has teeth it can bite! Any dog that bites, the owners should be punished not the dog! We need laws that make the owners outlawed not the dogs. all this banning makes me so mad!! This all happens because a bunch of punk kids, drug dealers, and trashy people think it is cool to have a mean dog! BAN THE PEOPLE NOT THE BREED!

hey maybe that should be a law -- All dogs must go to obedience training and get the AKC Canine Good Citizen Award and All dog owners must go through a Dog Owner School before they can own a Dog..
