Ok big mystery here: I have a dog who apparently was in heat in Oct, but never allowed near a male dog. So she should not be pregnant however the vet gave an educated guess that she was. He could not feel anything but she would be about 4 weeks if she was. I am unable to spay her until after Christmas and if she is pregnant the pups should be born then. SO How the heck am I going to know if she is: here are her symptons so far:
1] swollen vulva was like then when she arrived and has not changed [she is most defanantly not in heat]
2] back two breasts are slightly swollen but not much [all nipples appear bigger then a normal dogs]
3] she has gone from friendly and gentle to rather bitchy and snappy.
I am thinking false pregnancy but really have no clue for sure so any insight would be good. If it is a case of we really think she is then I will search out a vet willing to spay earlier but finances are the issue right now too. THe rescue portion is getting rather expensive.
Forgot: Yukon who is neutered is showing great interest all of a sudden in the bum area of this female. SHe is ignoring him altogether. There is no possible way that she is in heat.
