Introducing Barbie, my Afghan Hound

I finally got the Afghan Hound of my dreams. I've only had her for 1&1/2 weeks and she's adjusting wonderfully. Even my cat adores her and they'll curl up next to eachother on the couch for a snooze. I only have a few pictures of her at the moment, because my computer killed my BF's memory card. Thankfully he was able to resurrect them, but I haven't had the chance to go thru them yet. Anyways here's a few picts of her.

How beautiful! I have to ask, though, how much time to you spend grooming her a day? That silky hair looks like it would take a lot!

oh she is gorgeous! When I was a child--I always wanted an afghan hound! I just love the looks of them!

how much time to you spend grooming her a day?

Zero! There's absolutely no brushing or grooming in between her weekly baths. We do gently pull out any fox tails or burs with our fingers as soon as we see them, to prevent injury, but that's it. Her baths only take about 1 & 1/2 hours and we deal with any mats or tangles at that time. Brushing a dry coat is a huge no no and causes the coat to break which prevents it from growing so long a beautiful.

She's beautiful, though. There was an afghan in an agility class I took a few years ago, she was gorgeous on the course, looked absolutely regal taking all of the obsticles.

Wit Pompadour what I do in between baths is to use a spray bottle filled with only water , I spray it on him a little so the hair is moist before I can brush it.

Barbie is so stunning! Her name is perfect.

The only two Afghans I know, who come into my work, are constantly clipped and super-duper fearful. I would love to meet a well-adjusted, well-bred Afghan.

I used not to be a huge fan of Afghans, but they've grown on me in the past few years. Barbie is so elegant! She's really stunning.
