i wish i had seen this ahead of time

i can't really get another dog (five is plenty) but i can't stand good dogs being put to sleep just because they're old!!! plus i have a heeler mix now so I have a good understanding of the breed temperament.

i left a message with the dog pound after i had sent an email... left my number and asked to be told what happened to him or that i could come tomorrow and get him if he was going to be put down and was still there....

I am so happy for this dog and he is so grateful to you I bet. Some people might have walked away. I am glad you didn't.

The internet is a blessing to many shelter dogs. I have the time and inclination to post the dogs.
The Rescue person for the pound Jen said they are looking for help to evaluate the dogs and transport when they get a rescue so tell anyone you know in that area if they like dogs and think they can help to contact the pound.
I actually live on the east coast.See how the Internet can help!
I am glad no one minds the posts. All these homeless animals can break an animal lover's heart.
