1: Is your dog microchipped (I'm pretty sure less than 5% of the population is tattooed at this point)? If so, what company? Do you keep the information up to date?

Dance is microchipped (AVID I think, but I'd have to check to be sure), but the Dobermans are not. All three came with Tattoos from their breeders, though.

2: Does your dog wear a collar with ID? If so, when? What other tags, if any, are on the collar?

They wear collars with an ID tag when we are out. I keep meaning to put their licenses on their martingales (their typical park/off leash collars), but I don't know exactly where I put them since we moved (oops). They also have an ID tag on their other collars that they wear regularly as well. Typically, my dogs do not wear collars in the house. I worry about somebody getting injured when playing after all the stories I've heard over the years. Nothing ever happened to my dogs when they did wear collars in the house, but still.

3: If applicable, do you keep your dog licensed?

Yes, our dogs are all licensed. With as often as they go out and are off our property, I feel that it's better to have them licensed than to be faced with a hefty fine. You never know when somebody might stop to ask you if they're licensed or not. I remember quite a few years ago, a neighbour had AC stop at their house because of a complaint by somebody, and the officers then checked our house and a few other houses with dogs on the street for licenses. Eventhough our dogs were not in trouble or being complained about, they wanted to make sure everybody was following the rules I guess. Would've been a big bill had they not all been licensed.

Roomie's pom has a collar with an ID tag on it.

Daisy has a collar with ID tag and rabies tag and perhaps her license, I can't remember. Rocky has same. Both dogs are chipped.

Petey the cat is chipped, and he has a collar on to identify him as an owned cat, but there's no tag on it.

Ruby is microchipped with Avid. I do not use the city-issued tag because I hate loud tags but in addition to my phone number on her reg tags that I had made, I also put the city lic #. I keep her license updated with the city - it may haunt me some day because she is a 'pit bull' mix but we would move before we'd give her up to BSL.... When we walk, I use a buckle collar with tags and I keep a light collar with tags on AT HOME 90% of the time esp if she is going to be sunning outside.

1: Is your dog microchipped
Yes. Lily's is an Avid chip and Scout's is 24Pet Watch. I got Lily done at my vet and Scout came with hers. Both are utd with my cell and permanent address.

2: Does your dog wear a collar with ID? If so, when? What other tags, if any, are on the collar?
Usually they are nekid in the house. I put on their collars to go outside usually, but if I'm just pottying in the yard or going for a quick walk on campus I will just use the girls' slip leads most of the time. Everyone has a name tag with phone number and their rabies tag on their collars.

My cats' are not microchipped and do not wear collars. Both used to wear collars, but not anymore because they just come off anyway.

You don't get asked about licenses here unless your dog bites somebody. The city even knows that like 80% of pets living here, are not licensed. It's technically required by law, I guess, but they are not gonna ask if you are responsible about not letting your dog run loose or bite people. It's the same thing as the rabies vaccine.. They really just don't care unless your pet causes a problem.

I will add, renegade has a tag with his name, my name, phone numbers, vet info and "I will bite children" and "I need expensive meds or i will die" on it. He doesn't need meds, but they don't know that. He wears it when he is out with his harness. I need to get one for Harley, I got them when I had the 3 boys.

**Liz, Dais, Eer & Autumn are chipped, HomeAgain or ShelterCare. Pretty sure I failed on keeping Autumn & Eer up to date, but they live with the ex... I'm hoping Rage gets stolen (I KID, I KID!), and Bear carries his breeder's tattoo in his ear.

2: Does your dog wear a collar with ID? If so, when? What other tags, if any, are on the collar?
**They all wear collars 24/7 with an ID tag that has my phone #. Sometimes Liz doesn't, but she goes everywhere with me & I'm really not concerned with her being out of my sight long enough to get lost.

3: If applicable, do you keep your dog licensed?
** I keep the hunting dogs licensed because it's required by law and $8 per dog is cheaper than the $300 fine when they come checking (and lately the dog wardens have been going door to door).

I know where we lived before the dog didn't have to be wearing the tag (although it was recommended) but they did need to be registered with the city/township. I was never able to give microchip numbers to the old township but the new city I did so if the dogs are picked up and don't have collars/tags on... they'll still be able to be correctly identified as mine and appropriately licensed!

1: Is your dog microchipped (I'm pretty sure less than 5% of the population is tattooed at this point)? If so, what company? Do you keep the information up to date?

All three of mine are microchipped. I got Murphy and Mu done last Thanksgiving. Tipper's chip is through Avid and I need to switch it into my name instead of the rescue's. I'm pretty sure our info is listed first and theirs second but I don't mind either way - as long as they can get ahold of one of us! Murphy and Mu are through Home Again and their info is up to date.

2: Does your dog wear a collar with ID? If so, when? What other tags, if any, are on the collar?

Mu and Tipper go naked in the house/backyard - at first because they were getting caught up while playing and then because they were fighting all the time and I had visions of one of them losing a canine. They always have their tags (personal tag, license tag, rabies and chip tag) or a collar with their name and my number on when we leave the house. Murphy wears his collar and tags 99% of the time.

3: If applicable, do you keep your dog licensed?

All three are licensed with the city for three years. Spayed/Neutered price for 1 year is $15, for 3 years is $35. Intact is $30 and $70.

Wanted to add - I got Murphy and Mu microchipped while they were awake. Murphy did fine and Mu was actually more scared of the scanner thing than she was of the needle. We survived the needling with lots of liverwurst and the vet let me scan her the second time. So it was mildly scarring (for Mu) but overall not too bad. And she's absolutely terrified of the vet most of the time.

Only 2 of my dogs are microchipped, out of 5.

Every single one of them has a tag, and a collar they wear 24/7 365 UNLESS they take a bath. People around here aren't very knowledgeable on the subject of microchips and such so tags are VERY important to me. I also want to get collars embroidered with "I AM NOT DANGEROUS" as they are Rottweilers and I don't want people to ignore them out of fear.

Licenses are not required.

Xena is chipped with Homeagain. The info is up to date and I make sure her photo is updated as well. She wears her collar all the time with standard ID info on one side (name, address, phone numbers) and the contact information for our vet on the other side. She also has her rabies certification and her license tag. We got her a lifetime license from the county. It was $28, IIRC, versus $10 per year.

Licenses here are 30 a year for altered dogs. There are no 3 year or lifetime licenses.

Nia is chipped, tattooed, licensed but does not wear ID tags because she wears a harness.

The central danger I've ever faced from a Rottie was being crushed to death when a morbidly obese one climbed into my lap.

Ozzy and Tika aren't microchipped but they very rarely (never in Ozzys case) leave the property. The rest are and they were all done while they were awake. Taz and Diesel didn't even noticed and aura and scamp both just let out a little yelp. Fudge was a complete cry baby and people could hear him from the far side of the grounds (it was at a doggie fun day) and unfortunately for him he had to be chipped twice because we couldn't find the first chip when we scanned him.

None of the dogs wear tags (most of the time they don't even wear collars) although in summer Taz at least will be wearing tags 24/7 so another incident like last year doesn't happen. He doesn't run off in the winter because no ones ever about to take pity on him lol.

None of them are licensed although they should be. We live out in the boonies and no one even checks.

My dogs are both now officially licensed in our city. The tags make a funny noise! They have boomerang tags and rabies + license on the D ring now. Buzz has an additional name tag + microchip tag on the harness he wears most of the time.

Riley was chipped with AVID, and both of my cats are done with AVID too. Neither of the cats Ever goes outside, but still. They dont wear any collars. Riley had a collar with an ID tag on it about 60% of the time. No tattoo, and I wont ever get my pets tattooed. All of my pets will have a chip though.

Cats in my county dont get rabies tags/fees. Dogs are 20$ for altered dogs, 50$ for intact dogs per year. Riley never wore his rabies tag. I put it on my key chain as I obviously had my keys with me whenever we went out and about.

My next boy will eventually be chipped. I hate doing it awake, so it will probably be done around 1 year when I do hip pre-lims under sedation. No tattoo.

Everyone is chipped. They don't wear collars at home, or at least not when I'm not there because I worry about freak collar accidents, but they do wear tagged collars when we go out and about. They are both registered with my local council. Touch wood, I have never had a need to look for them. They've never left the yard or been lost out and about. I am so grateful, it's my worst nightmare.

Z and Kes are chipped, both with 24PetWatch, and were done when they were altered. Aeri is tattoo'd in her ear per Canadian KC regulations. Snipe has had neither done to date but will probably be chipped when she's spayed. Our cat is also chipped with 24PetWatch (also done when he was neutered).

I used to have dogs wearing safety collars with tags 24/7 but with Aeri liking to chew on necks they now go naked in the house and yard. When we work off lead in the front yard or go anywhere they all are collared and tagged.

Z, Kes, Pi (cat), and Aeri are all licensed, Snipe is not yet because I'm lazy and we weren't sure when we were going to spay her. Intact animals are $40 annually, s/n animals are $6 iirc.
