I'm lucky, my dogs do not require a test to know I love them...nor do I need a test to know they love me. I feed them, give them chewies, keep them trained, pet and groom them and give them a soft, warm place to sleep. Makenzie puts his head in my lap when I feel bad and always tries to get me to run with him all the time and lets me know when he needs something; buddy lays by my feet and puts his head in my chest when he can, cries when I walk away acts so happy when I put his leash on.

i know they love me, sophie talks to you. she will walk in and start WOO WOOOOOing in her big dog voice. and buster spends most his time beside me and sleeps with his head on my chest. hes beside me right now.
Panda comes and sits with me before school and gets this glazed over look in his eyes when i scratch his head, this is even though he doesnt really like anyone else though and takes it in great offence when anyone else touches him.

I know Chico loves me because he never leaves my side. Someone can stand there with a bag of treats and call him but he won't leave me. He lays on me and is always with me.

If a dog licks your face it could mean he loves you, or it could mean you need to include napkins at your place settings.

You don't need to kiss (although if you don't have to pin him down to do it and he seems happy with that, go for it) or test your dog to prove love. They don't communicate the same way as we do. Just look into his eyes and act happy to be with him, the love will show in there and in his body language.

Now I'm going to go snuggle with my pup. :)

I have no doubt Mojo loves me. He may not love me as a human would love me, but that is to be expected... he's a dog. It doesn't matter how he licks me... or how he greets me whenever i enter the room. I can just look ni his eyes, or watch his body movements to know that he loves me.

When I kiss Teddy it is a game :D lol I will move in slowly and then when I get close I will quickly kiss the side of his face and then I will do it again and if I move to slow he will swoop in to steal the kiss haha

I don't think my girls would try to drown me in kisses every time I walked through door, even if I was only gone for two seconds, if they didn't love me.

I always have a hard time knowing whether it is OK to pin Human emotions on animals or not.

I think that dogs are the perfect companion as they emit unconditional love. If in fact that's what is is. It could be pure acceptence to the pack on all terms by all members of the household and the encouragement of this pack behavior is interpreted by humans as love.............................
JEEEZ that is way too deep, I need to get a life tonight.
I am teaching anatomy to a very small class and they are taking a midterm exam. I have zero stimulas except this board tonight.

I love my pups and they love me.

I personally believe that dogs are quite capable of feeling love. For those who don't think dogs can love their handlers, then the very least I know is that I have their unconditional devotion.
If dogs view us simply as food dispensers and door openers, why would they bother protecting us? Why would they want to be with us at all times? Why would they display obvious signs of affection?

I just can't agree with someone who says that dogs are incapable of loving someone.

whether it's love or not , Chip's eyes show devotion and that sweet one kiss on my eye in the morning when he wants me to wake up shows something. And no, he doesn't have to go out!! I finally have to kick him out in the mornigs !! I swear he'd wait 24 hours.!

After one week i bought my dog home, his birthday number touched lottery, i won few thousand dollars. I hold his head and said "you are such a lucky boy", he knows i very happy, run around the house happily.

Dogs know our mood, happy, unhappy, sad or angry.

One day he is really noti, i was really angry shouted very loud, he then laid aside the door side and keep quiet. 1st time he did that.

Thinks he loves me too, sometimes when i carry him, distance are close, he lick my mouth.

I think my dog loves me. i only get to see him about once a week, but when I do I'll sit on the ground and he'll give up his ball to come sit in my lap and just simply be with me and look at me. i get so heartbroken when I have to leave him and he starts to cry through the door.

My practical side says that my dogs are bonded to me because I am part of their pack. I provide all these good things - food, toys, mental stimulation, access to the outdoors, etc. I know I love them and I provide for them because of that.

But my practical side also wonders, if they truly love us, why so many would take off and leave us alone if we took them outside off-leash? *L* Mine are really good, but I know my youngest one would take off after a moose or a rabbit given the opportunity. I haven't yet been able to work her through that (hopefully this summer). When I go outside with my dogs, I don't take off after something and leave them behind!

But then there's my emotional side, and that side wants to believe that my dogs love me every bit as much as I love them. I know that they don't love in a human sense of the concept of love, but I know that there is a very strong bond there and I choose to call it "love".

The good thing about the dog concept of love is that they can transfer that to another person if needed. This is why rescue is so successful for so many dogs.
