As some of you may or may not know OC has been having loose stooles partially due to being given too much watermelon at once and partially due to the heat we've been having (once he gets loose stooles his tummy's very sensitive until I can get them normal again and then he can tolerate a lot of things once more). So I went out and bought some canned pumpkin to help out his tummy (along with some ground beef and rice) but I was just wondering, how much pumpkin should one feed a 61Lbs dog and how often?

you don't really need all that much. a good teaspoon per 20-30 lbs of body weight per meal is often enough already.

but more won't hurt. :) the "magic pumpkin" works for both diarrhea and constipation, so there is no danger of ending up at the other extreme, and most dogs love the taste.

So Spike has diarrhea AGAIN and i have been going round in circles with the boiled chicken/rice diet on and off for 5 weeks now. Vet tests normal, antibiotic course finished a while back. He seems to firm up for a couple of days and then goes back to pudding/watery.

No socialising with other dogs, no walks, just running around the back yard...

Now i have gone back to Kibble and pumpkin 1 tsp each meal. Is this enough ? he is 22 pounds. i started this yesterday evening and it's still pudding poops and some watery. Pumpkin worked once before but then stopped working and he needed meds....trying to avoid that again.

He is in DESPERATE need of grooming tomorrow so i need to get this under control ! also he is scheduled to be neutered next monday...
